CCS Staff Survey
Welcome to our new Administrative Intern for Summer and Fall 2017 - Mr. Jeff Walter
Greetings! I am very excited to be joining the CMS team for the 2017-2018 school year! I am a native of Cabarrus County who graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1995. After high school, I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where I received a BA in History in 1999. After graduation, I worked for four years as a Personal Banker at Centura Bank, now known as PNC Bank, before returning to UNC-CH to get a Master's in Secondary Social Studies Education. I spent a year as a full-time substitute teacher in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County public school system before finally finding a permanent position at Gray Stone Day School, which is located on the campus of Pfeiffer University in Stanly County. After ten years of teaching and coaching tennis at Gray Stone, I accepted a position at JN Fries Magnet School as a 7th/8th Grade Social Studies teacher in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program. Currently, I am completing the Cabarrus County Schools' Leadership Cohort and am working on my Master's in Educational Leadership as a member of the Leadership Academy at High Point University. I have been happily married to my wife, Carolina, who is from Costa Rica, and we have two beautiful children, Gael, who is three, and Julieta, who is about to be seven months. Obviously, I am a huge Tarheels fan, and I have been a lifelong Cubs fan as well. I don't have a lot of spare time at the moment, but I love to play tennis and go to minor league baseball games when I can. I look forward to working with all of you so that together we value, engage, challenge, and inspire our students to be productive citizens and members of our community! Go Miners!!!
State Testing Reminders
Please remember that no staff member may be out of school during state testing days (last ten days of school). It is essential that everyone is present and ready to rock! If anyone is out, a doctor's note will be required. Also, please remember that we will have special end of year awards ceremonies. The 8th grade promotion ceremony will be Thursday, June 8th at 6pm. All 8th grade staff and encore teachers are required to attend. The 6th and 7th grade awards ceremonies will be on the last day of school, Friday, June 9th in the morning.

Please take the survey!
The Cabarrus Health Alliance and STARS is seeking teacher feedback regarding school climate here at CMS. We greatly appreciate teachers taking the survey linked below. It takes about 20 minutes and is confidential. If you provide a personal email account, you will be entered to win a Walmart gift card for $15.
Once teacher surveys have been completed, our school will be eligible to receive its yearly stipend over $1500 for its participation. We will also be able to access the data to determine areas of successes and challenges.
Please complete this survey by Wednesday, May 24.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me or Katie Dight (STARS Program Manager) at katie.dight@cabarrushealth.org.
