The Wonders Of Wind
By: Holly Bonfiglio
What is wind?
Wind is basically just air that is always moving around fast. But wind is very important. First of all, wind is what causes wind storms, such as hurricanes, tornadoes, and sand storms. If there was no wind, there would be no air, so there would be no biotic features/creatures in this world.
What are local winds?
Local winds are winds that only blow around and through small areas. Local winds are created by unequal heating in Earth's surface within a small area. Sea breezes are a type of local wind. They only blow during the day. Sea breezes are winds that are above any body of water, and blow to the closes land. Land breezes are also a type of local wind. Land breezes are above any type of land, but that is close to a body of water, and blow to the body of water. But, it only blows during the night time.
What Are Global Winds?
Global winds are winds that blow around and through large areas. They are created by unequal heating in Earth's surface within a large area. Doldrums are an equatorial region of the Atlantic ocean calms, sudden storms, and light unpredictable winds. Did you know that have little if any wind? Doldrums are caused by solar radiation from the sun!
Trade winds, Polar Easterlies, and jet streams.
Trade winds, trade winds are located on the equatorial sides of the horse latitudes. trade winds are on of the 4 most important winds other than polar easterlies, prevailing westerlies, and jet streams. Polar Easterlies, are dry, cold prevailing winds. They are approximately 60 degrees North, and 60 degrees South. And jet streams are fast flowing relatively narrow bands of strong winds.
