Bencik's Buzz

Hometown Families:

Our students are off and running! We are busy learning new routines and procedures. Students meet with Mrs. Bencik this past week to review procedures and appropriate classroom/school behaviors. Students are excited to show their sparks and learn new things.

Hometown Staff Spotlight.

Every week I will be spotlighting a staff member or a team. This week I will begin by introducing our new first grade teacher Abbey Linnert.

How long and what grades have you taught?

I have been teaching for 4 years now. I graduated from Saint Xavier University in 2019, so I am a fairly new teacher. I actually completed my student teaching in District 123 with the grades 1st and 3rd, and I absolutely loved it! I started my teaching career at St. Linus School in Oak Lawn and taught there for the past 3 years. At St. Linus, I taught 3rd grade which was such a fun grade to grow with. I am really looking forward to a new experience with teaching 1st grade and teaching in a new school!

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?

Somewhere that I would absolutely love to travel to is Hawaii! It looks breathtaking and like the perfect place to relax! I love the ocean and the beach, so I think this would be the perfect place for me to enjoy. I would be excited to see new wildlife and go sight seeing in the beautiful areas.

What are you most excited for this year?

I am most excited about creating new relationships and memories with my first grade class! I can't wait to help them learn and grow personally and academically!

What is your favorite food?

My favorite food is tacos!

Who is someone you admire and why?

Someone that I admire is my mom because she is a kind, caring, and a down to earth individual. She always puts others before herself. She is someone you can easily talk with and get along with even if you just meet her. She is a hard worker and is a great listener. She encourages positivity and happiness wherever she goes! She's the best!

If you see Miss Linnert around Hometown, please welcome her and say hello!
