Coming to the School? Some Things to Know

If you are coming to Prairie for a visit, whether it be to meet with a teacher or volunteer for a PTO event, please bring a government-issued ID (driver's license, passport, etc.) with you. We are required to scan an ID for every visitor who comes into the building.

Additionally, if you need to pick your child up early from school, we ask that you utilize Infinite Campus to submit an absence request as soon as you know your child will be absent. When you arrive at school and push the buzzer, we will ask you to use your phone to scan a QR code which will direct you to a form you will fill out. This gives us details we need to ensure we are releasing the student to a trusted adult as well as a timestamp for when the student leaves our building.

Please Bring Your Headphones to School

The Prairie LMC has recently seen an increase in students requesting headphones to borrow. We would like to remind students and families that headphones are included on the students' supply lists. Headphones are important for enhancing student learning, and students having their own set ensures they are ready to learn.

Notes From Our Counselors

We want to share the topics that the school counselors will be covering this year. Each grade level counselor will go into the classroom to do Social Emotional Lessons (SEL) with the students. These lessons will cover a variety of themes such as respect, team building, problem solving and empathy. Some of the other topics we cover are bullying, positive mental health and the state mandated Erin’s Law (child sexual abuse awareness). If you would like to opt-out of the Erin’s Law curriculum, please submit this form to your grade level counselor.

Our approach is to teach students to make positive healthy choices for themselves. These lessons will occur throughout the school year. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s grade level counselor. We are looking forward to a great year!
