Welcome Back to School!

The San Jacinto PTA would like to welcome you all to the 2016-2017 school year. We are excited about the year ahead and staying in communication with you. It is the goal for this newsletter to help connect families and our community with San Jacinto to promote student success. This electronic newsletter will be sent out monthly and is a great way for you to stay informed on what is happening at SJ. If you would like to join our mailing list, please use the "follow" button found on this page.

Mark your calendar for Mustang Mania! This is when you receive your class list, get your locker assignment, join PTA, purchase spirit shirts and PE/Athletic uniforms, and get all your MISD forms signed. You start in the auditorium to pick up your information packet that has school forms to complete. As you pass down the hall, you turn everything in to the designated station and end in the cafeteria.

PTA Gifts to School

At the end of last year, the PTA approved the purchase of these great gifts to SJ. The picnic table is for the patio to help accommodate more students for lunch. The wood shop on campus is being converted to the "Mustang Corral" - a Student Union room complete with fun games and activities. Students will earn the privilege to go to the Mustang Corral where they can enjoy games like ping-pong and shuffleboard and listen to music.

Observant of Differences in My Students

Never Give Up on My Students

Mustang Motivator Grant

Thank you to the MISD Education Foundation for awarding the PTA $5,000 for the Mustang Motivator program. This is a behavior incentive program that began three years ago to reward positive behavior and reduce behavior disruptions that impede learning. This program has been very successful for the past two years and we are grateful for the MISD Education Foundation and their support to help us continue.

Be sure to check in with your student each 6 weeks and ask about their "punches."
