Message from Principal Ophus
Dear Fairview Families,
As Dr. Aumiller shared, students will be coming home with more instructional materials than usual this afternoon to be prepared for the potential of E-Learning days after Spring Break. If your child is absent today, please plan to pick up his or her materials on Monday between 10am and 2pm in the front office.
If we do go with E-Learning, a menu of learning activities will be shared online and via email. More information will be shared at that time. If you don’t have access to the internet and/or a device your child(ren) can use for this purpose, please contact me by 3 pm on Monday, March 16th.
We know this is a challenging situation for our entire community, and we thank you in advance for your support and understanding. We shared this article with our staff, and it provides some good talking points to use with children. As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
Take good care,
Dan Ophus
Fairview Principal

DISTRICT 57 EDUCATION FOUNDATION GRANTS
The District 57 Education Foundation is a non-profit organization comprised of Mount Prospect community members whose mission is to raise money to fund grants in the areas of curriculum, wellness, and technology. Grant requests may be written and submitted by district teachers, staff, and parents. The grants enrich the educational experiences of all students, helping them to achieve at their highest potential. Funded grants allow teachers to have access to the resources they need to support teaching and learning at Westbrook, Lions Park, Fairview, and Lincoln schools.
Over the years, the Foundation has funded computers, iPads, ELMO projectors, Smartboards, musical instruments, art supplies, fitness equipment, and supplemental reading material - all to enrich our children’s educational experiences. We are currently in the Spring Grant Request Cycle. A description of the grant request submission process and form is located within the Grants section of our website at https://www.57edfoundation.org
Grant requests for this cycle are due by 4/3/2020 to the Ed Foundation at d57edfoundationgrants@gmail.com
Parent community members who are interested in submitting a grant request should contact the school principal to which the grant will benefit. The Ed Foundation will review all requests at our April meeting. Please contact the Ed Foundation Grant team at d57edfoundationgrants@gmail.com with any questions. Thank you for your continuous support of the D57 Education Foundation.
MORNING ARRIVAL
Please remember that students should not arrive at school earlier than 8:35 a.m. as we do not have supervision prior to that time. The only exceptions are if they are in a before school program/club.
BICYCLE SAFETY
If students ride their bicycles to school, they need to observe bicycle safety.
Students should always walk their bicycles when on school grounds. Bicycles should be locked up at our bike racks in the bus turnaround.
Skateboards, scooters, and roller blades are not allowed on school grounds at any time.
