Mrs. Smith's Weekly Newsletter

January 11, 2021

Dear St. Charles Families,

The start of 2021 has been anything but gentle to us, but I find comfort in the fact that Pope Francis proclaimed a Year of St. Joseph from December 8, 2020 - December 8, 2021. In a new Apostolic Letter entitled Patris corde (With a Father's Heart) Pope Francis describes Saint Joseph as "a beloved father, a tender and loving father, an obedient father, and accepting father; a father who is creatively courageous, a working father, a father in the shadows." Our Holy Father explains that we never see frustration in St. Joseph but only trust. If we are honest with ourselves, we have been faced with incredible frustration for nearly a year. Let us follow the example of St. Joseph to move away from frustration and trust in our God.

We are now well into January and look forward to welcoming the children back to the school building on Tuesday, January 19. I have heard such wonderful things from parents about their children’s remote learning experiences. I realize it has been an inconvenience and appreciate your patience and support during this time. We are optimistic that this precaution will allow us to continue to offer daily in-person classes moving forward.

You may have seen the photographs of our teachers working from their classrooms that were shared on social media last week. If I had approached each classroom with my eyes closed I would have thought all of the children were right there at their desks. The student engagement was phenomenal! Thank you for continuing to remind your children to keep their cameras on so their teachers can see them and know they are comprehending the content of their lessons. Kudos to our teachers!

We have heard from some families who are currently still traveling or who have recently returned to New Jersey. Remember to call Mrs. Pelosi, our school nurse, and discuss your child(ren)’s continued quarantine if necessary. Remote instruction may continue for students in this situation.

You should also contact Mrs. Pelosi if you have COVID questions or information to report. If your child is either diagnosed with COVID-19 or someone in your household has tested positive, Mrs. Pelosi can provide you with specific information about his/her school status. Remote instruction continues to be an option for any families who need it or choose it for their children.

All families received an email with information about registration for 2021-2022. Early registration for current families runs from January 19 - January 29. You may email your form to Mrs. Glass at mglass@scbpschool.com and send your registration fee to school with your child. Tuition rates for next year have also been shared. You may reach out to Mrs. Glass with any registration questions.

Since Mrs. Glass receives multiple calls each day from prospective new families interested in enrolling their children at St. Charles next year, we wanted to provide the opportunity for our current families to secure their places in our classes prior to opening registration to the public. Be sure to tell your friends and family about your positive experience here at St. Charles! They should include your name with their registration documents so you qualify for our B.E.A.R.S. Referral Incentive Program (Bringing Education and Religion to Students). You will earn $150 off your tuition if the family enrolls.

Thank you for the many kind wishes and emails of concern during my absence prior to Christmas. I am feeling well and have been back at school since January 4. I am an example that in spite of extreme caution, COVID-19 is an airborne virus that can find you. I look forward to donating plasma in the coming weeks to help others, and I am committed to our continued efforts to prevent the spread of this virus in our school.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact me!

God Bless,

Mrs. Smith

Prayer to St. Joseph

Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer,

Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

To you God entrusted his only Son;

in you Mary placed her trust;

with you Christ became man.

Blessed Joseph, to us too,

show yourself a father

and guide us in the path of life.

Obtain for us grace, mercy, and courage,

and defend us from every evil. Amen.

2021 - 2022 Early Registration for Current Families

Early registration for our current families opens on Tuesday, January 19. We want to give you the chance to register your child(ren) for 2021 - 2022 before regular registration begins on Sunday, January 31.

All current families received an email this morning outlining the process for early registration. If you have a child in preschool, that registration fee (early = $225) is for your entire family. That one fee also covers any K-8 children in your family. If you have a child(ren) only in K-8 you pay the other rate (early = $150).
