As we move into the final four weeks of school, I thought it would be helpful to provide some information on how you can support your child as they prepare for and take final exams. The first part of helping your child prepare for final exams is determining what environment best suits their study style and needs. This could be at home in their room, a quiet corner in the kitchen, or your local library. Helping your child lay out a schedule of when they will have their final exams is essential to preparing for them. Included in our newsletter is a general school-wide schedule of when our final exams are administered during the last four days of school. Once you know when their assessments will occur, the next part is helping to organize their review materials so you can make sure they have everything that they need to prepare for the exams. This will also provide an opportunity for you to help them with the next part, which is prioritizing their review materials so they have a schedule of when to complete them and study from them for each final. Doing this in advance of the scheduled final exam also allows time for your child to determine what information they still need and what questions they need answered prior to taking the final exam.
We will continue to have late buses through Thursday 5/23 and additional teachers after school to assist students in preparing for final exams. If your child has questions in completing their review materials or needs additional study help, I would strongly suggest that they make arrangements to stay with their teachers Monday - Thursday. Study tables run from 3:30 - 5:00 pm Monday - Thursday. The last day for study tables and late buses is Thursday, May 23. The final step in helping to ensure your child is prepared for exams is making sure that they adhere to a study schedule and balance their extracurricular activities in order to be well-prepared and get enough sleep prior to taking their final exams. Supporting your child during this time is one of the most important things that you can do to ensure their academic success. Thank you for everything that you do!

Finals Schedule 2019
Day 2 - May 28th (even) - Periods 2, 4, 6, and 8
Day 3 - May 29th (odd) - Periods 1, 3, 5, and 7
Day 4 - May 30th (even) - Periods 2, 4, 6, and 8
The following criterion was considered in building the final exam schedule for each semester:
- A normal bell schedule will be used for all four days that final exams are administered.
- It is mandatory that Final Exams be administered by period on the last two days of each semester. On Day 1 and Day 2 of the last week of each semester, part 1 of your final exam will be given or at least a portion of your exam. (Example: Day 1 & Day 2 give a writing portion, Day 3 & Day 4 give a multiple choice, short answer, or performance assessment portion)
- All teachers engage students in meaningful academic activities during times when their classes are not scheduled to take a final exam.
