We may just have some future authors and illustrators in our midst!

PRINCIPLES OF HUMAN SERVICES CLASSES PRACTICE MEASURING TECHNIQUES

Students practiced measuring with brown sugar, sugar, flour and other kitchen ingredients that will be used this school year in food labs. If you see one of these students, ask them which ingredients get packed and which ones do not. Plus, as a bonus question, ask them the three standard measuring utensils and their standard measurements.

PTA VOLUNTEER REQUEST

I want to personally welcome you and your family to Bedford Junior High and into our school community. Parents are vital partners and we rely heavily on hands-on assistance from parent volunteers. As a volunteer on our school campus, you show our students that school is important. You also serve as an extra set of eyes and ears to help our students, reduce bullying and provide a greater sense of campus safety and security. This allows our students and teachers to focus on learning and instruction. There will be more volunteer opportunities on the campus this year and I encourage you to take an hour or two to help out.

Michael Martinak

My name is Betsy Deck and I am the Volunteer Coordinator for the BJH PTA. The PTA is an association of parents and teachers working together to improve the lives of our children in education, health and safety. I’m glad we have the opportunity to be back inside the schools this year to do just that. Many hands make light work and anything we can do to pitch in will help. Plus, it really gives you insight into the teenage mind. <Cue mysterious music.>

Some volunteer opportunities this year include working a shift in the concession stand, dance chaperones, assist staff in the lunchroom, special teacher projects, crossing guards and making copies in the workroom. Training will be provided, and you can even sign up with a friend for some shifts. Volunteers can be parents or grandparents of children in the school. You may choose how long, how often and where you wish to help. Please use the link below to take a look at some of the opportunities and sign up today.
