Spring has Sprung!
The storms and now the heat! Spring is finally here! I can hardly believe it. With it, come the final weeks of school.
Over the next five weeks, our partnership will be critical to ensuring that each of our students have a successful end of the year. We are focused on supporting students to meet each of their grade-level outcomes. Please check in with your student and talk with them about how things are going for them. If you have questions about what is happening their classrooms, do not hesitate to reach out to the homeroom teacher. We have many supports available to help students find success at this time of the school year.
With summer on the horizon, we’ve had some questions about how we will be handling school-owned iPads over the summer months. Students will once again be able to hold onto their school-issued iPads and return with them for the 2022-2023 school year. If you would like for the school to keep the iPad over the summer or you are not returning next year, you can turn the iPad in to our main office. There is more information in the newsletter below.
On May 20, we will opening the Woodcrest doors for our ¡Celebración del aprendizaje! Please join us in the building to view examples of your students learning. Teachers will have these examples in their classrooms 5-6:30 p.m. When you are done celebrating your student's learning, you will be able to enjoy a great event organized by the Woodcrest PTO in and around our fields. Enjoy family activities and food trucks from 5-7 p.m.
In closing, I want to send a special note of appreciation and gratitude to our school nurses. Today is National School Nurse day and these last few years have highlighted the importance of our responsive and caring nurses here at Woodcrest and across Spring Lake Park Schools. Thank you for keeping us healthy and ready to learn day in and day out.
I hope you all have the chance to enjoy this warm weather.
Con gratitúd,
John Franke
Plans for iPads this summer
This summer, Spring Lake Park Schools' families with students in grades K-11 will once again be able to keep their school-issued iPad at home and return with it for the 2022-2023 school year. If you prefer the school keep the iPad over the summer, you will be able to turn it into the main office.
- Seniors and families who are leaving the Spring Lake Park Schools district after this school year need to turn in their school-issued iPad, case and charger.
- Seniors will return their iPad, case and official Apple charger to the high school on Thursday, June 9 during their rehearsal for graduation.
Students who will not be enrolled for the 2022-2023 school year can turn in their iPad, case and charger to:
- their home school office, or
- to the District Services Center at 1415 81st Ave NE, Spring Lake Park, MN 55432.
If family plans change over the summer months, we ask families to call the District Services Center, 763-600-5000. Need Tech Support? Contact the Technology Department at techsupport@district16.org or 763-600-5555.
Outstanding School Fees: How to pay through Campus Parent Portal
As we near the end of the 2021-2022 school year, we ask that families pay any outstanding fees they may have acquired throughout the school year. Fees could range from technology to library books and music fees.
To check if your family has any outstanding fees and to pay for the fees, login to Campus Parent Portal and click on "Fees" located in the left-hand black column. We ask that families pay these fees by June 30, 2022.
Westwood Visit
Dos Oruguitas
During this process, students practiced and listened to the song "Dos Oruguitas" from Sebastian Yatra to represent the butterfly life cycle using movement and hand motions.
Once the butterflies were born, students were able to do a writing prompt describing said process using words like transition and sequence of events. These writing prompts were then shared with some classes during a mini concert, featuring the song "Dos Oruguitas!"
