UPDATES: WUS Food Service
FREE MEALS for ALL KIDS!
VIRTUAL MEALS - Program Modifications
Due to the high volume of requests that we have received for the VIRTUAL MEAL program, we have had to streamline the process somewhat. Beginning with the pick-up scheduled for 09/30/2020, ALL packages of meals will contain 5 breakfasts and 5 lunches going forward. There will be no need to distinguish between HYBRID or VAAC students when signing up or when picking up meals. This will allow for more manageable ordering, delivery, storage, preparation, and distribution of meals to children.
This service is being offered optionally as a resource to families in the WUS District that would like to participate. All ordered meals will be FREE of charge to all children 18 years and younger, regardless of whether the child is enrolled in the HYBIRD model, VAAC, or too young to be enrolled.
Meal pick-ups will continue on a first come, first served basis, but if everyone who wants to participate signs up each week, there will be plenty for everyone...so please sign up! We are also adding a pick-up location: PINE STREET ELEMENTARY!
ORDERING:
Parents/Guardians must complete the VIRTUAL MEAL ORDER FORM each WEEK for each STUDENT that wishes to receive meals. Forms must be submitted no later than THURSDAY night in order to be on the list for the following week's meal pick-up. This link will be turned on for ordering on Wednesday and Thursday, then turned off on other days to allow the Food Service Department time to order, receive, prepared, and package meals.
PICK UP INFORMATION:
Days: Wednesdays
Location: Pine Street Elementary or WUS Fine Arts Center (FAC) Main Entrance
Times: 11:30am - 12:30pm
Note: Distribution of meals will occur once per week and will include the entire week's worth of meals.
COSTS:
Virtual Meals are FREE to all children 18 years and younger.
COVID GUIDELINES:
In addition to following all food service and safety guidelines, all WUS Food Service Staff are following COVID protocols to provide the safest service possible for the protection of our students and families.

STUDENT LUNCH ACCOUNTS - UPDATED
Another benefit of the grant being used to provide FREE meals to all students is that students who are eating breakfast and/or lunch at school are no longer being charged for those meals. This benefit does not include a la carte purchases, entree-only purchases, or milk-only purchases due to dietary guidelines. ALL students can participate in getting these free meals each day they are in school with NO SIGN-UP REQUIRED!
Additionally, student accounts have been RETROACTIVELY credited any meal charges that were incurred since August 24th. All credits have been applied to student accounts and are now reflected on all account balances.
Any positive balance on your student's lunch account will remain available to your student. Purchases can still be made by students during the school day through the cafeteria. Student accounts will continue to be charged for non-meal purchases (such as a la carte items, entree-only meals, and milk-only purchases).
Any negative balance on your student's lunch account is the responsibility of the parent and needs to be paid as soon as possible. The district's Meal Charge Administrative Guidelines will continue to be enforced.
FREE & REDUCED MEAL PROGRAM - Clarification
Because grant funding for the current free meal service that covers both VIRTUAL MEALS and in-school breakfasts and lunches is not expected to last forever, we encourage families to complete and submit a FREE & REDUCED PRICE MEAL APPLICATION as soon as possible.
All eligibility for the FREE & REDUCED PRICE MEAL PROGRAM will take effect in the event that the funding for the free meal service to all children ends. However, you CAN participate in the grant-funded free meal service regardless of your family's eligibility for the FREE & REDUCED PRICE MEAL PROGRAM.
If your household would like to apply for the FREE & REDUCED PRICE MEAL PROGRAM, please fill out an application for your household if you have not done so already for this school year. Electronic forms can be completed via the Parent Portal under the MORE option of the Main Menu. Completing this form via the Parent Portal is the easiest and quickest way to complete and submit this form. Paper forms can also be obtained from the office of your child's school.
DON'T FORGET BREAKFAST!
Breakfast is especially important for young students whose brains use up about half of the body's energy.
Eating breakfast at school is a convenient and FREE way to start your child's day off right!
Give school breakfast a try!
