Principal's Newsletter 2/2/24
Dear Wade Families,
I just want to thank all the families that took the time to come out to the literacy carnival on Thursday night. It was so great to see so many smiling faces enter and leave the building. We hope that everyone who attended had fun and learned how to help support reading at home.
Just a few reminders, our next PTO meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 6th at 6:00 pm in the library. Jason Stoddard, Director of School Safety and Security, will be our guest speaker. On Wednesday, February 7th is a two hour-early dismissal for all students. Pre-Kindergarten students do not attend school that day. The day is scheduled for parents to meet with Pre-K teachers to discuss their report cards. Our two Pre-K teachers sent out emails with registration links for conferences.

I Ready Results
Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) administered i-Ready diagnostic assessments to students this month in both reading and mathematics. Students who took i-Ready assessments include the following.
- Students in Grades 1-8 participated in both a reading and math assessment.
- High school students enrolled in Algebra I or Foundations of Algebra this year completed the math assessment.
- High school students taking English I this year completed the reading assessment.
Family reports are available digitally in the student’s i-Ready portal. To access the report, your child will need to log into their CCPS Office 365 account, go to Clever, and then click on the i-Ready icon. Parents can also assist their child with logging into Office 365. For more details on how to do this, see the attachment labeled “Accessing the i-Ready Student Portal.” The attachment also provides directions on how to get to your child's report within the i-Ready portal.
The code for accessing i-Ready family reports for the 2023-2024 school year is MRBKQ8. This code is for all students in all schools. Please contact your child’s teacher to request a paper version of the family report. Additional parent resources including a video about i-Ready are posted online here. CCPS has also posted i-Ready resources on the i-Ready page of the website.

Update Contact Information
It is also that time of year to make sure all of your contact information is correct in our database. If you need to change any information, please email your child's teacher and Mrs. Diaz our registration secretary at email@example.com, with any changes to your information.
Birthday Snacks and Classroom Treats
Due to allergies, students and their parents/guardians are not allowed to bring to school and distribute any outside food products unless the products are commercially manufactured, individually wrapped in singe serving sizes and marked with the ingredients and the nutritional facts label. Parents/guardians must obtain permission from their child's teacher or school administrator prior to bringing outside food for distribution so that the teacher/administrator can review the timing and impact on the school day, the benefit and fairness to students, and other considerations.
If weather conditions pose a potential hazard to students, school officials may dismiss early, delay the opening of schools or close schools for the day. If conditions require the closing or delayed opening of schools, decisions are usually made by 5 a.m. The most reliable sources of school closing information are the school system's 24-hour information line and website, www.ccboe.com. The 24-hour information line is 301-934-7410. When possible, decisions are made the preceding evening. CCPS uses its notification system, School Messenger, to send email notification to parents with valid email addresses on file with their child's school. Parents, please notify Mrs. Diaz, firstname.lastname@example.org with any change to your email address throughout the year.
Parents you can also be notified to receive text message notifications from the school system. You can text Y or YES to 67587 to sign up for CCPS text messages from School Messenger.
Lost and Found
Has your child misplaced their coat, sweatshirt, lunch box, glasses or any other objects? If so, they might be located in our Lost and Found box in the cafeteria. Our lost and found box is ready to overflow and we have not even hit wintertime yet. So, if you notice that something is missing, please let their teacher know and your child can look for their materials in our lost and found in the cafeteria.
