Boosterthon FUN RUN Fundraiser Information
Parents! This year’s main fundraiser is the Summit Hill ES Fun Run! It’s a two-week program that kicks off with a Pep Rally on Monday, February 11, 2019. Families will then gather pledges for every lap your student runs (30-35 laps), and we’ll celebrate at the Fun Run on Thursday, February 21. With our big goal of raising $20,000.00 for playground equipment, we asked the Fun Run experts at Boosterthon to power our Fun Run and make it easier, more profitable, and more fun.
Students will also experience an amazing character theme, MINDSPARK MYSTERY LAB! Boosterthon’s most exciting theme yet combines S.T.E.A.M skills (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) with character-building. While they're teaming up with the MindSpark Kids to solve mysteries, our students will learn five 21st-century character traits that will help strengthen themselves and our world.
Donations will go toward playground equipment. Please help our school by reaching out to sponsors. Also, all families are invited to come out and cheer on your student at the Fun Run! Thank you for your support!
Announcements for SHE Families: Each week, any NEW announcements will be added at the top of this feed :-)
- SGC Elections are coming up. If you are interested in running for a parent position, please click this link: http://school.fultonschools.org/es/summithill/Pages/default.aspx
- W.A.G.S/PAW Proud Nights for 3rd, 4th, & 5th: On February 7th, the 3rd grade PAW Proud Night was such a great success! This night is 100% focused on students and what he/she wants to share with his/her parents! It was such a great night and teachers (and admin) loved seeing the smiles on kids' faces, as well as their parents' smiles. 4th & 5th grade teachers are very excited about seeing those same smiles on their students' faces! Reminder: 5th grade is February 12th, and 4th grade is February 13th.
- Bus Safety: With the start of the new semester, please remind your child(ren) about the importance of bus safety and consistently following those rules. Our bus drivers need to be able to drive without distraction and students, on the bus, following the rules helps to ensure this. Bus rules are also reinforced by staff as students are loading each afternoon. Please encourage your students to report the bus driver and you any student(s) who are not following bus/school safety rules. Since the bus is an extension of school, students are expected to behave on the bus and interact with other students in the same manner as at school. Any behavior, on the bus, which does not align with bus and/or school safety expectations will be reported to administration and could result in consequences in according to the FCS Code of Conduct.
- To review the safety rules:
- Students have assigned seats for safety. For this reason, students should stay in his/her assigned seat from the moment he/she boards the bus until he/she arrives and unloads.
- When the bus is in motion, students should not stand for any reason. For buses with seat belts, students must remain buckled up during the entire trip to home or school.
- Under no circumstance should students be yelling or screaming at any time when on the bus.
- Principal Chat: Join Dr. Bearden for conversation, discussions, and/or questions. Meetings are the first Tuesday of each month at 9 am and 6 pm in the PTO room
- Lunch Dates Information: Spring is a busy time of year and here is a list of dates when the stage will be closed and lunch dates will be cancelled. March 15th – 29th Bingo & Baskets March 15th/Music Event/Milestone Pep Rally March 29th
April 15th – 25th Milestone Testing NO PARENTS in building
April 22nd – May 3rd Music Event/College-Career Week/Wax Museum
May 6th – 14th Milestone Testing NO PARENTS in building
NOTE: This leaves the stage closed from April 22nd – May 14th
- Lost and Found: We have moved our Lost and Found cart to the rotunda outside of the cafeteria. We are hopeful that the new location will make it more convenient for students and/or parents to search for lost items. Please be sure to put your child's last name on all belongings. This allows us to return lost items back to the rightful owner.
- Personal technology: Please help us to keep our students focused on learning by reminding them that technology (cell phones, Apple Watches, etc.) should not be out and/or used during instructional time., unless the device is being used to facilitate learning. While we strongly encourage students to leave their personal technology at home, students who bring technology to school need to keep it in their backpacks during school hours.

Georgia Deptartment of Education Climate Survey Information for School Personnel, Students, and Parents
Parents,
Prior to the holiday break, parents were asked to consider completing the Georgia Dept. of Education Climate Survey. The surveys are mandatory for all Georgia schools and the participation rate of school personnel, students, and parents' is one measure of the Climate Star Rating, which is released as a part of the CCRPI reports each fall. For 2018 CCRPI reporting, Summit Hill ES is currently rated as having a 5-star climate rating.
Thank you to SHE parents, who have completed the survey for Summit Hill ES!! If you have not already done so, please consider using the link to complete the survey prior to March 1st. Use the link to access the parent survey. The survey may be taken at any time.

Thank you, BPI Photography for the beautiful parking lot banners! Chip Bowen, owner, and his son, Chad, designed these banners and worked to have them installed before the beginning of the second semester, at no cost to Summit Hill ES. BPI is the official school photographer for Summit Hill ES and we value our partnership! These beautiful banners really show our Husky Pride!! Thank you, BPI Photography!!
