Message form the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers

On Monday we acknowledged NAIDOC Week with a special assembly that included the Wesley Moorditj Mob and Mrs Kerry Ann Winmar presenting a Noongar Bible. Wednesday was Remembrance Day and our school gathered to remember the service and sacrifice of our fallen men and women.

Thank you to all who attended the Annual General Meeting on Tuesday evening. We are most grateful to the number of parents who nominated for positions on the Board and P&F; we were only able to consider nominees who attended the meeting. The school is in a strong position for 2021 with all positions filled, except for a Secretary for the P&F. Please contact me if you are interested.

Thanks to the P&F and Mel Cathie of Active Outdoor Fitness for Friday's Ninja Warrior Obstacle course - it was very much enjoyed by the children. The P&F Community picnic is on Sunday at 2 pm on the school oval. Many families have indicated they will be attending. My apologies I can't attend due to work commitments in Geraldton.

One of our families is grieving for a grandfather who sadly passed this week; our prayers are with them.

God Bless and keep safe.

NAIDOC Assembly

On Monday we held a NAIDOC Assembly in the Kalyara Mia. The Wesley dancers started off the proceedings and then Mrs Kerry Ann Winmar said the Welcome to Country. Mrs Winmar then presented a Noongar Bible to Monsignor for a blessing. This was given to Mr McMahon to place on our prayer table in the office. Each class presented an item of their learning during the assembly connected to the culture and history of the First Australians. It was a wonderful celebration which show-cased our commitment as a school to provide many opportunities for our staff, students and wider community to be immersed in the appreciation of indigenous cultures. The school raised $183 for the Literacy Indigenous Reading fund.

Remembrance Day

Our school community gathered at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month to remember the service and sacrifice of our fallen men and women who gave their lives in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.

Musician of the week

Saheli from Year 5W is your Musician of the Week. Saheli has played the piano for 6 years and ukulele for 2 years. She currently learns piano with Jordan Moore and learns ukulele from Mrs McDonald during the Ukulele Club. Her favourite song to play on the piano is “Deck the Halls.” Saheli is a soprano voice and sings in both school choirs.

Saheli's favourite song is "Standing with you", by Guy Sebastian.

Can you sing at the Sacramental Masses?

A reminder that we are looking for students to sing at our First Holy Communion and Confirmation Masses. Please let me know if your child is available to attend either of the Masses:

Library closed

The library is closed this week to make way for a new classroom .This means that the children will not be borrowing books and library lessons will take place in their classrooms until further notice. All books will be packed away until work is complete and the shelves have been relocated to the new area of the Library.

Fence climbing

Recently there has been an increase of students climbing the tennis court fences after school. We are concerned it's only a matter of time before someone falls and hurts themselves. Can we please ask parents to speak to their children picked up in this area about this issue.

Scholastic Book Club

Book Club orders in by Monday, 16th November.

Apologies for the short turn around, but we want to ensure orders are received before the start of school holidays.
