Greetings,
Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed the long weekend and found time for equal parts of fun and relaxation. The learning advocates I met with today are feeling rejuvenated and ready to finish this trimester strong. I’m guessing the students are, too!
Here are a few updates for this week:
- 6th grade families – info about 7th grade courses: Angie Shea, associate principal at Westwood, will be meeting with current online 6th graders tomorrow (Thursday) at 8:45 a.m. in Rachel Allen's WebEx to review general information about 7th grade and course options.
- Week of Giving: This is the Panther Foundation Week of Giving! The Silent Auction featuring more than 300 items opens today at 6 p.m. You can also get involved by dining at local restaurants and by continuing to show your Panther Spirit – Thursday (blue out) and Friday (spirt wear). Thanks for supporting our students! I hope to see some of you at the Panther Party on Saturday. Find everything you need to know at SpringLakeParkSchools.org/GiveBack.
- National Public Schools Week: This is also National Public Schools Week and great time to give a “shout out” to the SLP Online K-6 learning advocates for their energy, flexibility and unfailing commitment to their students and our school. THANK YOU, learning advocates!
- Kindergarten enrollment for all 2022: The priority deadline for enrollment in kindergarten for next year is February 28, 2022. If you know a future Panther, let them know it’s not too late to visit or enroll.
- Face masks at SLP: Face masks are now strongly recommended preK-12 in our school buildings. The revised Face Mask Decision-Making Guide is now in effect. Masks will be required temporarily on a school-by-school basis if 5 percent or more of students and staff are out with COVID-19 or COVID-like symptoms. Data is updated weekly on the COVID-19 hub. Face masks continue to be required on buses following federal requirements.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me at 763-600-5057 or kfehri@district16.org. I am here to assist.

Kindergarten priority placement - February 28
Families with children who will be going into kindergarten for the 2022-2023 school year are encouraged to enroll their child by Monday, February 28. This is the priority placement deadline that provides the best opportunity for your first choice in what school your child will attend.
Please visit the kindergarten webpage to enroll your child. You can also find additional information about kindergarten options at SLP, how to request an elementary school tour or how to contact our enrollment office with any questions.
Industry roundtable focuses on the future
Small and large business, non-profit, government and education leaders came together at Spring Lake Park High School last week to discuss the skills graduates need and how school and community can partner to build the future. More than two dozen leaders participated in the industry roundtable conversations, representing a variety of sectors – including retail, hospitality, health care, finance, manufacturing, construction, government and more. Participants provided insight on the skills and mindsets graduates need to succeed in the workforce. Read the full story here.
If you’re interested in becoming a partner by contributing to future opportunities surrounding this work, please contact Eric Van Brocklin, evanbr@district16.org, 763-600-5100.
