Final Message from the Principal...
PPE Families,
As we enter the home stretch of the school year, it's more important than ever that we continue to focus on learning and taking the time to celebrate right up until the end of school.
I know we have numerous events taking place to mark the end of the year, but only one event marks the end of learning: the last day of school. We have A LOT to celebrate and be thankful for this school year. OUR student and building success was based on YOUR trust, patience, and partnership! Thank you!
Piper Prairie plans on FINISHING STRONG! There is NO WALKING ACROSS THE FINISH LINE!
Have a wonderful summer making memories with your family!
Stay well! YOU MATTER!

On March 10, 2022, the U.S. Senate passed the Omnibus Appropriations bill that funds the federal government through September. This bill does not extend pandemic child nutrition waivers for school meal programs which are set to expire at the completion of the 2021-2022 school year term. This means that after our last day of school, May 23rd, USDA will no longer have authority to provide allowance for schools to serve free meals to all students or extend the broad regulatory flexibility Child Nutrition Programs that school districts have relied on for the last two years.
As a result, School Nutrition Program Free and Reduced-Price Meal Applications will be required to determine eligibility for free and reduced-price school meals for the 2022-2023 School Year. After July 1st, the District will send an email to all families an email with a link to an online free and reduced application through KSDE Child Nutrition & Wellness. If a family completes the application but does not qualify for free or reduced lunch, the child will be charged for meals eaten at school. If you have any further questions or concerns please contact Sarah Dunn at the District Office at 913-721-2088 or sdunn@piperschools.us
