Mustang Families and Scholars,

Today was a great first day at OLHMS! The energy and enthusiasm in our building was incredible! Huge thank you to our scholars for kicking off the year in the safest, most responsible and respectful Mustang Manner! Obviously, with any start to a school year we will have our challenges, we appreciate everyone's patience and understanding as we return to this full in person experience! Please know that we have had an influx of enrollment the past two days and this may impact program/ schedule changes for our scholars! We hope not to have to make too many more adjustments to students' schedules after this week.

Here are a couple reminders for everyone based on this first day of school!

(Tomorrow) Thursday, August 19th: First Full Day of School

• School doors open at 8:25am

• Classes begin at 8:30am

• Dismissal at 3:20pm

Transportation: Scholar’s bus routes/ information can be located in Skyward.

• Bus Riders

• All bus riders must be wearing a mask at all times

• Scholars should be at pick up locations 10 minutes prior to pick up time.

• Bus drop off ONLY takes place in the front of the building on 99th.

• Please be patient and anticipate the timing of bus service to be a challenge the first couple weeks of school- anticipate delays.

• Walking scholars or scholars being dropped off

• Entry for scholars benign dropped off or walking takes place on Oak Center Dr.

Student Entry(8:25am) and Staggered Dismissal(3:20pm):

• Masks must be worn to enter the building

• Scholars will be temperature checked daily

• Parent drop off and walkers enter the building in the back on Oak Center Dr.

• Parents please be patient, follow guidance from school staff and do not block the driveways of our neighbors or the crosswalks at the corners of Oak Center Dr.

• 6th Grade scholar’s entry Door 4

• 7th Grade scholars use Door 6

• 8th Grade scholars use Door5

Lunch & Breakfast

• Lunch will take place in the cafetorium

• Scholars will be given hot options for lunch

• The menu will be posted on the website

• Breakfast will be distributed at dismissal daily for those interested in a grab and go fashion

Lockers

• Scholars will be using lockers (tell them to relax, they will get it!!)

• Minimize the amount of “stuff” placed in the locker, think essential!

• Specific times (locker stops) will indicated by grade teams

Tree Nursery:

Please note that a weed application will be placed on the tree nursery tomorrow (8/19/21).
