Last Day Information
The 2022-2023 school year is coming to an end, and with that ending comes a chance for us to celebrate! On Thursday June 8th, the last day of school, we have a special day planned for all of our students and we need your help.
The morning will kick off with an assembly run by our Student Council, followed by snacks and the movie "Jumanji" shown in WIN classrooms. Following the movie, students will have the opportunity to participate in different activities around the school and surrounding areas. 6th and 7th grade students will sign up for 4 activities, and 8th grade will sign up for 2. After lunchtime, 8th graders will be invited to come out to the back field for a special carnival just for them. We will take a class photo, there will be a DJ, games, relay races, and even a dunk tank.
The day will culminate in a cheer tunnel for our departing 8th grade class.
We will be inviting students to bring in snacks for themselves to enjoy during the movie and we are looking for some snack donations to provide to any students who may forget or not have the ability to bring their own. If you are willing to donate snacks for this event, please send them with your child or drop them off in the main office. Mrs. Paschen will store the snacks until the last day and distribute them to WIN teachers who need extras.
ATTENTION 8th GRADE FAMILIES! You are invited to attend the carnival at the end of the day. That portion of the schedule will begin at 1:40 with the class photo. We ask that you discuss your plan with your child so they know if you're coming and please remember that if you plan to take your child home that they still will need to be signed out in our main office.
Thank you so much for your support! Have a wonderful weekend.
Students that walk to and from school should be very aware of traffic as they cross streets and intersections. Walkers are not always visible to vehicles which can create a very dangerous situation. Thanks you for being extra safe as you travel to and from school!

Good afternoon, friends, colleagues, and community members,
The Duluth NAACP’s Annual Juneteenth celebration is fast approaching, and we’d love for you to join us! Be it as a guest, vendor, tabling, volunteering or through a donation, there are plenty of opportunities for you to help make this year’s event successful. It takes a community effort to put on a successful Juneteenth event for more than 1,000 community members, so your support and participation is vital!
As has been our tradition for decades, the Duluth branch of the NAACP will once again honor and celebrate Juneteenth on Sunday, June 18th from noon until 5pm at the Central Hillside Community Center and will feature free food, family fun, local vendors, community resources, music, prizes and more!
There are many ways to participate in the NAACP Juneteenth celebration. Please consider supporting our celebration through one of more of the following options:
§ As a vendor, showcasing your goods or services. There is no cost to be a vendor and we especially welcome BIPOC- and women-owned businesses to join us! More information about how to become a vendor and to register as a vendor, please click here.
§ By hosting a table to share information that is useful to our community, uplifting or otherwise has a positive impact on peoples’ lives. In the past we’ve had tables provide information on healthcare access, education, housing resources, legal support, civic and community engagement opportunities and more. To sign up to host a table, please click here.
§ By volunteering, either as an individual or as a group. Our volunteers do everything from cleaning up the park prior to the event to serving food to helping vendors find their spaces and more. Each year we seek roughly 30 volunteers to be sure the celebration runs smoothly. This is a great opportunity for allies in the community to step up! To sign up as a volunteer, please click here.
§ By donating, either monetarily or providing items necessary to make this event successful. The cost for this event involves city permits, DJ and entertainment fees, food and drinks, prizes and more, totaling roughly $5,000. This is only possible thanks to generous donations from our businesses and community members. Again, this is a great way to practice active allyship. To offer your support as a donor, please click here.
§ By sharing our event however you’re able—on social media, printing the attached flyer and posting it in your place of employment, or by educating yourself on the history of Juneteenth.
§ By attending, of course!
We appreciate your support of the 2023 Juneteenth celebration and the NAACP’s continued fight for freedom!
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
