President Roosevelt would be the key person for this one.Roosevelt developed programs to regulate the economy, provide jobs, and offer citizens some economic protection. He declared that "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself." In the 1932 presidential election, voters elected Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt. He set out to create new programs to help the poor and get the economy moving again.
