From The PFC Co-Presidents
Hi Thornhill Families,
I hope you are enjoying this beautiful springlike weather. I’m stuck at home with a new puppy, so enjoy it for me!
I'm looking forward to seeing many of you at the Thornhill auction tomorrow evening. Solvig Raethke-Doeppner, our auction chair, and her team have been hard at work to make this a fun evening for Thornhill parents, teachers, staff and friends.
Have you had a chance to check out the online auction catalog? There’s something for everyone! Please remember to bid generously – the auction is one of our main school fundraisers and Thornhill needs your support more than ever with OUSD budget cuts coming.
Our next PFC Board Meeting is Tuesday, March 14 at 6 p.m. in the school library. Please RSVP if you plan to attend or need childcare (for current Thornhill students only) to president@thornhillschool.org.
Don’t forget that daylight saving time begins on Sunday, so plan on springing forward this weekend. See you at the auction!

Returning To Thornhill? Turn In Your Intent Forms
Hello Everyone...
This is the first year that OUSD is requiring us in the Thornhill office to report your students intent to return to our school during the next school year.
The school needs to report this information from all TK - 4th grade parents. Follow this link and the form will automatically download.
Once you have filled out the form, either return it to Ms. Sherry in the office or via e-mail by Wednesday, March 22. This information is crucial for planning for next year. If your student is NOT returning it would be helpful to know what school they will be attending.
Thank you in advance for your assistance with this matter.
Thanks!

Thornhill Parent CHKS Survey
This survey is an opportunity for you to help Thornhill by sharing your opinions about it. Please click here for the survey.
OUSD wants to learn about Thornhill’s efforts to promote academic success and well-being for every student. The district also wants to know how well the school is supporting you to be a true partner in your child’s education.
If you have more than one child at Thornhill, you may fill out a separate survey for each child – or just focus on the experience of one of your children at school. Each caregiver may fill out survey according to their experience with Oakland Unified.
No one can tell who filled out this survey. Your answers are completely private.

Dads Club Meeting Coming Up
Next Dads Club Meeting
March’s Third Thursday mixer and planning meeting is coming up on Thursday, March 16th, 8-9:30 p.m. at Monaghan’s. As always the meeting is no host, adults-only, open to all and free to attend. Give us an hour, and you’ll hear about upcoming events like Night at the A’s.
This year's night will take place on Friday, April 21, when the A's face the Seattle Mariners (the hometown and favorite team of your humble newsletter editor, Rex Crum). Thornhill Elementary School students, parents, and their friends and families can purchase discounted tickets in two different seating sections.
Tickets cost $32 for Field Level seats and $20 for the Plaza Outfield section. A portion of each ticket sold will go directly back to the school.
But, before the game, come to the Dads Club meeting! Get more involved, and drink BEER doing it!
SOCIALIZE with Dads Club! Ever wonder why we don’t host a GOLF outing, BOWLING night or POKER game? Why not plan one! Dads Club will happily sponsor and promote any outing to our 190+ member list – all you have to do is ask! We’ll continue to host our monthly planning meetings every 3rd Thursday at Monaghan’s, but you know what they say about “all work and no play…”
Doug's Drama Camp at Montclair Elementary
Do your children act dramatic at home?
Do you ever think, "This kid should win an Oscar for this performance" as he or she pleads with you for a snack just before dinner?
Well, then get your aspiring Daniel Day-Lewis or Meryl Streep on stage.
These are full day camps with extended care from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Details at http://www.dougsdrama.com/
