Holy Rosary Bilingual Academy

Message from the Principal - 06/20/18

Happy Summertime, Holy Rosary Bilingual Academy Families!

School is officially done for the year and summer is under way. This is the last official newsletter for the year, though we will be keeping in touch with volunteer opportunities and other announcements. It is a long newsletter with lots of info and wonderful pictures, so take your time looking through it! The school office will be open for another month, so let us know if you need anything. Check out our summer hours below.

Have you been by the school lately?? The back lot is a construction zone! The Big Toy has been removed and all of the pea gravel has been sent off to its new home. YEAH!!! The swings are being relocated. And, we are working on getting new equipment purchased. We are preparing to do the Depave this Saturday. Check out the info below for more specifics...and take a look at the pics.

Report cards are being mailed out this week. The envelope will also include MAP scores and AAPPL results, when applicable. If you do not receive your report cards, that is because you have a substantial balance on your account or you have a balance and are not returning. Please contact the office immediately to make a payment. Report cards will not be released to families or another school until balances are cleared. You can contact Berenice and pay over the phone or in person. If you have a question about your bill, just contact Kelly at finance@hrrsjda.org or by calling 253-272-7012. Remember, tuition is to be paid August through May with June and July off. If you need help setting up a FACTS account to start your August payment, just give Kelly a call and she can help you so that you are all set to start the new school year!

We hope that you had a wonderful school year and are enjoying your break. The teachers are doing clean up and then are heading off to Spain, Peru, Colombia, and elsewhere. After a little rest and some preparation, they will be ready to start back on Aug. 20th. School OFFICIALLY begins for students on Aug. 27th. The final update of the calendar is happening and so we will send it out in the next week. We are also putting a Google calendar together as we redo our website and get all new email addresses with holyrosarybilingual.org as our new domain. Stay tuned...

As I reflect on this past year, I am struck by how much was accomplished with the help of our volunteers. From instituting an electives program for middle school to our new play field to all of the fundraising. We are so blessed to have an amazingly dedicated group of parents (and grandparents) and we are grateful for the support!

Have a wonderful week and call us if you need anything!

Blessings,

Katie Dempsey

Depave Info: Tips for this Saturday!

This Saturday, June 23rd from 9am-noon, is phase II of our Holy Rosary Depave project. On this one day, we plan to rip up and recycle 10,000 SF of pavement, converting it into a grass area the students can play on and adding trees to provide shade. Thank you all for your interest in this amazing community project.

Some tips for Saturday.

  • We will be starting at 9am, so please arrive 10 minutes early to get checked in and get gloves.
  • We will provide gloves and tools, but please come with long pants and closed-toed shoes.
  • After a quick welcome and explanation of the day’s event we will start moving the pieces of asphalt into the recycling containers.
  • It will get warm and we will have gallons of water, please bring your own water bottle to fill.
  • Park at the front of the school...try to avoid being in the back where the work is as we will be moving the dumpsters around all morning and we don’t want cars in the way.
  • Pizza lunch will come at noon, so if you can, stick around to hang out and celebrate all the work we will have accomplished together.

Uniform Info

We will be using two vendors for uniforms this year. They are Tommy Hilfiger and Land's End. The prices are excellent and they have all the new Holy Rosary Bilingual Academy gear. Remember, shorts, pants, and shirts can be purchased anywhere (Target, Walmart, Old Navy, etc.), as long as they meet the uniform/dress code. The items that MUST be purchased through Tommy Hilfiger or Land's End are: skirts, jumpers, and sweaters (only at Tommy). Our uniform code has been updated, so please look through it carefully before purchasing items (it is shown below). I am attaching the English version today and we hope to have both English and Spanish on our website by next week. You will be able to access it at our new website: holyrosarybilingual.org then go to “Home/School Commmunication” and “Uniforms”. Don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
