Three new subcommittees are forming! Are you interested in event planning or exploring ways to expand the role of health educators? Passionate about clean air and healthy lungs? We have a committee for you! We need volunteers to help plan the GLC-SOPHE Legislative Day scheduled for September, 2016, Third Party Reimbursement issue to enhance the health educator position, and Tobacco 21, the campaign to raise the minimum age of tobacco purchase to 21. Each will consist of forming goals, objectives and creating an action plan. Time commitment is minimal and very flexible. If interested, please email glcsophe@gmail.com . We will email you info for the next meeting. Watch for updates to be posted soon.

SOPHE Statement on NCGA House Bill 2
The Society for Public Health Education Opposes Discrimination in All its Forms
The Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) is extremely disappointed in the passage of House Bill 2 by the North Carolina General Assembly. SOPHE opposes discrimination in all forms and remains committed to promoting and advocating for a safe, inclusive environment for all people. No persons should be discriminated against due to their gender identity, preference or veteran status. As SOPHE convenes its 67th Annual Meeting in Charlotte this week, we expect that civic and business leaders will work together to repeal this legislation and restore respect for the core human values of fairness, equality and anti-discrimination for the people of North Carolina.
