Note from Interim Principal Mrs. Smetzer!

Hello Ryan Families,

Happy 2023! Let me first start by saying how much I am truly enjoying being a part of this school. It has only been a week, but in many ways, I feel like I've been here much longer than that, building relationships with your kiddos and our amazing staff. In these first few days of the new year, students have had opportunities to connect with their classmates, become reacquainted with classroom roles and expectations, and dive into fun and engaging learning.

Some highlights for me over the last week include - practicing yoga positions during library time; reading aloud to kinder students; sitting in a Q and A session with 4th graders; and being a part of our first assembly of the year, welcoming Angevine band, choir, and orchestra musicians to perform for the school.

We are planning our first principal coffee talk for Thursday, January 19 at 8:00 am. Please considering joining us in the library for coffee and snacks. I look forward to getting to know you!

In this week's update you will find:

  • Attendance reminders
  • MLK-no school announcement
  • Ryan Steam night information
  • Karate Club details
  • Kristin Mullen introduction
  • GT announcements
  • PTA update

72 Tardy Students last Friday!!

Tardies

Important learning takes place first thing in the morning and arriving late can be disruptive to the teacher and other students.

The first bell rings at 7:47AM (8:47 on Wednesdays), The tardy bell rings at 7:50AM (8:50 on Wednesdays). If a student arrives after 7:50AM, they are tardy and need to check in at the Office.

Good habits start early!
Research shows regular attendance at school has a DRAMATIC impact on student progress. Please get your student to school on time, also let us know if you need support or if there is anyway we can help.

MLK Day

No School on Monday, January 16th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Hi everyone, I'm Kristin Mullen, the new Literacy Interventionist at Ryan, filling in for Mrs. Stauch. I grew up in a suburb of Chicago and met my husband while living in Boulder after college. We relocated to New England for a job opportunity and raised our two daughters there. I was a classroom teacher and a literacy interventionist in Southern New Hampshire. My family moved back to Boulder this summer. My daughters are in college now and in my free time I am an avid cyclist, dog-lover, and reader! : ) I am so excited to be a part of the Ryan Community!
