Student Absences
We encourage families to use SafeArrival to report your child's absence, however if you do choose to phone the school and leave a voicemail regarding your child's absence, please state the reason why they are away.
With SafeArrival, you are asked to report your child’s absence in advance using any of these 3 convenient methods:
1. Using your mobile device, download and install the SchoolMessenger app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store or the link at go.schoolmessenger.ca. The first time you use the app, select Sign Up to create your account. Select Attendance then Report an Absence.
2. Use the SafeArrival website, go.schoolmessenger.ca. The first time you use the website, select Sign Up to create your account. Select Attendance then Report an Absence.
3. Call the toll-free number 1-833-219-9070 to report an absence using the automated phone system.
These options are available 24 hours/day, 7 days a week. Future absences can be reported at any time.
If you report your child’s absence in advance using the SafeArrival toll-free number, website or mobile app, you will NOT receive a phone call from the school.
Please report absences in advance using SafeArrival instead of sending notes or calling/emailing the school.
If you have children attending other schools, please continue to report absences using the existing procedures for those schools.

October Photos
Students use their arm to help them identify sounds and blend words. | Pictured here are coloured tiles that are used to identify phonemes or sound units. In English, there are 44 phonemes, or word sounds that make up the language. They’re divided into 19 consonants, 7 digraphs, 5 ‘r-controlled’ sounds, 5 long vowels, 5 short vowels, 2 ‘oo’ sounds, 2 diphthongs. | The steps in the activity is to Say it, Tap it, Map it, Write it. Write it is where the students change the phonemes into graphemes (the letters that represent the phoneme). |
Grade 5 students have been developing their understanding of the scientific process as they learn about properties of acids, bases, water and other materials. | Grade 4 students completed a STEM engineering project to design Bone Towers of Terror. | Several classes in our school have been using technology to read with students within our school, but also with students at CHHS. |

Bus Students

We appreciate your support in ensuring that we are getting our youngest bus travelers home safely.
If you have any questions, please call us at the school.
