Functions of the immune system
The immune system helps to protect your body from harmful things like germs, viruses, radiation from the sun, and outside dangers, like knives or other sharp objects. The immune system makes your skin darker to protect you from solar radiation this causes a tan. The Immune system also destroys any virus or bacteria by sending out white blood cells into the blood stream where the bacteria or virus is. When you get a cut the immune system sends out platelets to change the cut into a scab to prevent infection of the cut.
