Leader In Me

During the month of September, we are focusing on Habit #1: Be Proactive.

  • I am a responsible person.
  • I take initiative.
  • I choose my actions, attitudes, and moods.
  • I do not blame others for my wrong actions.
  • I do the right thing without being asked, even when no one is looking.

Group Meeting

Group Time: We will begin our unit on nutrition. We will learn about the food groups and how we need to eat healthy, balanced meals. We will set up our market in dramatic play and learn about the jobs in a grocery store. We will be customers, cashiers, bakers, and stock people.

Letter Focus: We will introduce the letter Mm. We will listen to clues about words that begin with the Mm sound and try to guess what is hidden in the box. We will practice writing the letter Mm and naming words that begin with the letter Mm.

Poems and Songs: “The Muffin Man"

Stories: My Food Pyramid, Fruits, Meat and Protein, Milk and Cheese, Grains, Vegetables, and The Best Mouse Cookie

Choice Time

This week we will:


  • make deli sandwiches (with felt pieces)
  • make and share pizzas (and learn about fractions)
  • sort food into food groups (dairy, fruit, vegetables, grains, protein)
  • play candyland
  • complete a matching middles activity
  • write grocery lists

FALL SCREENINGS

*Preschool Screening will be September 27th! Anyone 3 years and older is eligible for screening. Please let friends know to call the office and schedule an appointment.

ELEMENTARY OPEN HOUSE

*The elementary school Fall Open House will be on Friday, September 30th from 4:00-5:00 p.m.! Please plan to stop by the classroom and see what we have been doing this month!

NO SCHOOL

*No School for Pre-K students October 7th. Full day students may attend Viking Care 8:15-2:45 pm. Extended Care is also open until 4:00 for participating preschoolers.
