STEM College & Career News

An Update from Ms. Lytle | April 2020

Hello Spartans,

Below you will find information related to the College & Career events occurring on our campus! I have also included information related to SAT & ACT Testing, Naviance, and scholarship search tools. I hope you find this resource a helpful guide to preparing our students for their futures.

SAT Testing Update on 4/23/2020

Good News! College Board has announced that the August 29th SAT will take place, either in person or as a remotely-administered at-home test. A September test administration has also been added to ensure that every student will have the opportunity to take the SAT. Students who had been registered for the now-cancelled June date and class of 2021 students who have not yet tested will have priority in registration.

Sincerely,

Kandace Lytle

ROAR College Search Series Virtual Event - July 13 - 16

ROAR – Regional Officers of Admission of the Rockies. We will again be hosting the ROAR Summer College Search Series during the week of July 13-16! This year, we have chosen to go virtual for the health and safety of our participating families and representatives! ROAR’s Summer College Search Series is a program geared towards high school students to help them navigate their college search. It will include a 30-minute admissions Q&A panel followed by a 60-minute college fair where students and their parents can meet the Colorado-area admissions representatives from 36 out-of-state colleges and universities.

We included a link for attendees to register in advance; registration is free, but required in order to get the link to the Zoom event.

Colleges That Change Lives

Tuesday, Aug. 11th, 7pm

700 14th Street

Denver, CO

Since 1998, CTCL has offered a national series of information sessions and college fairs for students, parents, and college counselors. Each session begins with an enlightening 30-minute presentation on today’s college search process, which is followed immediately by a college fair that lasts for approximately 1.5 hours.

During the college fair, students and families are invited to collect information from and speak directly with admission representatives from the colleges and universities that inspired the book Colleges That Change Lives.

SAT Cancellations due to COVID-19 UPDATE

SAT Testing Update on 4/23/2020

Good News! College Board has announced that the August 29th SAT will take place, either in person or as a remotely-administered at-home test. A September test administration has also been added to ensure that every student will have the opportunity to take the SAT. Students who had been registered for the now-cancelled June date and class of 2021 students who have not yet tested will have priority in registration.

Students will have opportunities to take the SAT to make up for this spring’s lost administrations. If it’s safe from a public health standpoint, we will provide weekend SAT administrations every month through the end of the calendar year, beginning in August. This includes a new administration in September and the previously scheduled tests on August 29, October 3, November 7, and December 5.

Students will be able to register for these administrations beginning in May. We’ll communicate directly with students when the exact date is available. Eligible students will be able to take the exam with a fee waiver. Students who were registered for June and those in the high school class of 2021 who do not have SAT scores will have early access to registration for the August, September, and October administrations.
