Appreciation

Happy Sunday Buccaneers,

We just had the first progress report for this semester come out last Friday. We want to congratulate all of our students who are taking charge of their education and earning good marks. Keep up the good work! We also want to thank our parents who joined us at Friday's progress report meeting. We are here to serve and help you in any way we can.

We are happy to announce that SOM staff is in the process of getting vaccinations! Saturday, February 27th, was the first day vaccinations were available for staff that work in schools in the fourth quartile of the California Healthy Places Index. According to Supervisor Nora Vargas, the Border View YMCA is now open for vaccinations to those who work in child care, restaurants, food handling, and agriculture. No appointments needed.

It is March! The word of the month is APPRECIATION! We have so many people, organizations , and activities that we celebrate in March: Women's Her Story, Music Appreciation , Read Across America, National Nutrition Month, Red Cross, and we honor and recognize our Classified Staff.

On behalf of our administration, we want to thank our classified staff for everything they do for our community. Classified Employee Appreciation Week is celebrated every year during the first full week of March. Please join us in expressing appreciation to our custodians, gardener, cafeteria staff, administrative assistants, library technician, campus assistants, instructional assistants, and IT technician who serve our students and keep our schools running. Thank you for everything you do!!!

We will have three weeks of Spirit Celebrations. On Tuesday we celebrate Read Across America Day. Our ASB students have planned very fun activities for us to engage in our March celebrations. All of these activities help us stay connected to our school community. We hope you can join us and please send our ASB a picture of you participating in a Spirit Activity.

Our ELPAC testing will begin this week. We have over 300 students taking the test. Most of the administration will take place through English classes. I have included videos with information about the importance of this test in case you need a refresher. Most of our students will be taking the test through their ELD and AVID Excel classes with a few exceptions. We wish our students the best!

On Monday and Tuesday of this week, students will be meeting with the the administration, counselors, and resource teachers to review Personal Education Plans through physical education classes. Grades will be reviewed, important events coming up, and students will get a presentation around class selection for next school year.

We have three weeks to go before Spring Break! We can do this. Let us help each other make these next three weeks a success! Let us finish strong!

May we have a wonderful week!

Julissa
