Student Volunteers Needed for Fort Bend Regional History Day
Event: Fort Bend Regional History Day
Need: Student Volunteers
Dates/Times: Setup – February 21, from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Event – February 22, 7:30 am – 3:00 pm (several timeslots available)
Sample tasks: Runners, hall helpers, registration helpers, etc
Attire: Academy or School Spirit Shirt with jeans or khakis (no rips or tears) and comfortable shoes

World Speech Day Looking for Speakers!!!
Please find attached flyer for the call out for speakers. Deadline date to submit speeches is February 28. Speaker registration can be done at http://akebsw.org/worldspeechday. Speeches can be submitted when registering to participate or can be emailed at a later date. Event date is Monday, March 16.
Speakers need to be a minimum of 9 years of age and up. Please share the flyer with all Principals, elementary, middle and high school, debate groups, Academy students, College and University students and anyone interested in speaking. We will have the event day flyer ready in the next day or two to share with everyone for audience registration.

Summer Program for High School Seniors - UT MD Anderson School of Health Professions
The School of Health Professions at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center would like to announce that applications open soon for the 60th Annual Carl B. & Florence E. King Foundation High School Summer Program in Biomedical Sciences June 8 – July 24, 2020. Applications available Nov. 1, 2019 – Jan. 16, 2020.
Attached is our informational flyer for potential applicants to the program (current seniors in a Texas public, private, charter, or home school graduating prior to the start of the program). For more information visit our web page (http://bit.ly/SHP-HS-Summer) or contact me directly. In short, we will select 10 students and pair each to mentor under an MD Anderson faculty member. The participants will work during normal business hours in their mentor’s laboratory working on research.
Students will receive a scholarship to help defray expenses during the program. The program does not provide for housing, parking, transportation, food, or otherwise.
No new applications will be taken after January 16. We hope to choose the students by early March.

The CCR center will be open for students to seek advisement, work on college applications, apply for scholarships, write and revise college essays, pick up college brochures, and attend college visits. Parents are also welcome to the resource center if they have questions and concerns regarding post secondary education/careers. This is an exciting addition to all Fort Bend ISD campuses, and the college and career adviser is here to help advise both students and parents.. Dulles Decathlon finished 1st at the Region VII Academic Decathlon Meet
Dulles Decathlon finished 1st at the Region VII Academic Decathlon Meet. They took 7 of the 15 overall individual medals and 1st place in the Super Quiz event! The team also took home a lot of individual event medals
