Excellent Leaders Modeling Success
Amazing things come for Active Learning.
Mr Webb's 8th grade class is strengthening students skills in using a triple-beam balance, digital scale, and Erlenmeyer flask in preparation for the coming school year. Students weighed a series of specimens (including the problem of weighing water by itself) on both scales and compared their results. Once students completed the initial task, they wrote about the the differences (errors) between the triple-beam balance and the digital scale. Lastly, students used "big-picture thinking" to decide if those errors could affect an experiment that they are working on. If so, what could they do as scientists to combat those errors.
SWAT Grant Awarded to East Lee Middle School
East Lee has been awarded the Round Up Grant for the 2016-2017 school year. The grant amount of $2500.00 was awarded to Principal, Shannon Shuey for the SWAT program. The SWAT program is for 6th grade students that need additional support transitioning to middle school. Through this program, students will be provided with a SWAT Coach. The SWAT coach will:
- ensure that each student is known well at school by at least one adult who is that youngster's advocate (coach);
- guarantee that student belongs to a peer group;
- help students find ways of being successful within the academic and social options the school provides;
- promote communication and coordination between home and school.
