What is Capturing Kids Hearts?
Capturing Kids’ Hearts is a program that outlines a process OPS staff uses to help build meaningful connections with students. The goal is to capture kids’ hearts in order to capture their minds. The process shows the students how much our staff truly cares, and it encourages students to reach their fullest potential.
The following are some components of this program students can expect to see in their classrooms:
Staff members personally greeting the students at the beginning of the day.
Students given opportunities throughout the day to share a “good thing” with their teachers and classmates. By providing a safe and caring environment, students will be able to share information about themselves, their interests, and their needs.
Students and staff creating a Social Contract. The contract establishes the guidelines and expectations for how students and teachers will treat each other. The contract will be revisited throughout the year.
Staff providing closure for the day with a launch or positive message for the students.
Morning Drop Off
Thank you for your support with our morning drop-off procedures!
If you are waiting in line for the "drop-off zone" and see an available spot, please pull around the parked cars to the open spot. Usually, there are many openings along the sidewalk near the stop sign.
Students may exit your vehicle, at the curb, at 8:20. Please remind your child to head straight to the cafeteria, if they are eating breakfast at school.
Just a reminder that we are allowing birthday treats this year, but they must be store-bought pre-packaged treats. Due to a variety of food allergies (tree nuts, peanuts, red dye, pumpkin, etc.), please leave the treats in their packaging so we can see the ingredients.
Birthday treat ideas: Ice cream treats, popsicles, fruit roll-ups, Little Debbie cakes/treats.
