For Specials!
For Specials:
PE: Often, perspective-taking is required to resolve conflicts in the gym. Here's a great "peace path" conflict resolution process that helps kids see from others' perspectives.
Music: Perspective-taking is at the heart of learning an instrument and practicing playing with a group. Oftentimes, students don't hear what they sound like all together because they are so focused on mastering their own instrument. When you record them and play it back to them, you offer them your perspective.
Art: Perspective-taking is essential in art class! When you teach 1-point, 2-point, and 3-point perspective, you're helping them see that each person's point of view changes the way they will paint a situation.
Computer: Perspective-taking is crucial for online safety and security! Students who understand how to think critically before they post online, click a link, or share their information, will have to consider the perspectives of others online (and why they are interacting with children). This great game at BeInternetAwesome allows students to think critically about how they engage online with others.
Library: So many books help students to think critically about the characters' perspectives. Consider reading What If Everybody Did That, by Ellen Javernick.
