Blessings & Gratitude
Dear Crossroads Family,
The school year seems to be flying by. We are back from Thanksgiving break and Winter break is right around the corner. It is a tradition for me to write a letter this time of year to express my gratitude for the many blessings in my life and express my thanks for having what I believe is the best job in the world.
First, I would like to thank the students. Each year we asked our students to work hard, do their best, challenge themselves, and display Corgi Pride on a daily basis. Looking at grades, attendance rates, and student behavior, I can say with confidence that our students are accomplishing these goals. We have amazing students and I am so proud of each one of them.
Likewise, I would like to thank our staff. I truly believe I get to work with the best staff. We have experienced teachers who continually look for instructional strategies to improve student achievement. Most importantly, our staff develops meaningful relationships with our students, and those relationships lead to the positive culture of Crossroads Elementary. We are a team and I appreciate how hard our teachers work to ensure every student at Crossroads is successful.
I would also like to thank our parents and school community. The support and involvement that we have received from parents and the community is amazing. We raised nearly $20,000 in profit from our PTA fundraiser. This level of support gave us enough funds to complete the installation of our track. In addition, we had hundreds of guests for Patriots Day, fall parties, and Veterans Day. What I am most impressed with is your dedication to excellence in educating our children. Thank you for your support at home and your involvement at school.
Finally, I would like to thank my family. As much as I enjoy my job, my favorite part of the day is seeing my wife, Brooke, and my two daughters, Caroline and Colette, at the end of the day. I would like to thank them for understanding the time that goes into making Crossroads one of the top elementary schools in the state.
Thank you again for giving me the opportunity to serve our school and students. I would like to wish the entire school community a happy holiday season.
Best,
David Duckworth

The Wentzville School District Holiday Assistance Program
CRE is participating in the Holiday Assistance Program through the district this year. Each year, the Wentzville School District strives to help connect families with assistance for the upcoming holiday. This year, 337 families throughout the district have asked for assistance. Crossroads Elementary is helping 17 families directly. Each classroom has adopted one child. For those that are able and want to participate, students may purchase a gift for the adopted child. Gifts will be collected on December 15th and distributed to families on December 16th. A few individual families have asked to support a family, as well. If you are interested in supporting a child this holiday season, please contact either of our school counselors, Amy McLeod or Tim Burkemper. There are still about 30 families in our district that have not been connected with support yet. Thank you to all our Crossroads families for this generous support.
