Applicant for Fast Horse Internship
I am a recent graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College, and am currently living in Minneapolis seeking to broaden my communications and media relations experience with a collaborative, creative organization like Fast Horse.
Tony, you need a Fast Horse Intern who is...
A resourceful go-getter
- I became a writer for an international music blog, and an intern with an international non-profit, because I saw opportunities and went after them. I may have a different background than other Fast Horse Intern applicants, but I am applying anyway. Why? Because with my unique background, skills and passions, I would be an asset to your team.
Smart and motivated
- I graduated cum laude with a B.A. degree in Biology and maintained the highest-level academic scholarship available throughout my four years of school. On top of that, I worked part-time through school and volunteered as an EMT in Minneapolis a few weekends a month. Why? Because I am goal-oriented and driven, and I like to make things happen.
Creative and digital
- I studied in Italy for a semester to take art classes. Microsoft Office, Wordpress, and social media platforms are my second, third, and fourth languages. And in order to stand out from other Fast Horse Intern applicants, I designed a cover letter instead of writing one. Why? Because I like to practice thinking outside the box.
My past work experiences include....
Communications and Social Media Intern
World Altering Medicine (WAM), January - May 2014
WAM is an international nonprofit that aims to improve the health and education of rural communities in Malawi, Africa. I managed the WAM Facebook page and blog, created a photo book for donors, maintained the donor database, and pursued publicity opportunities for the organization. I am currently volunteering with them to plan a fundraiser here in Minneapolis, slated for late November.
Various Office Settings, May 2011 - April 2014
I have held a variety of administrative positions in three different office settings. I managed front desk operations independently and as part of a team, maintained personnel files and processed payments, conducted a client survey and organized the results, and managed other creative and organizational projects.
Based on my proven ability to adapt to different work environments, contribute as part of a team, take initiative, and communicate effectively, I think I would be a great fit for the Fast Horse Internship. In addition, your office is easy for me to reach, and I am flexible and can schedule a meeting any time that is convenient for you. Thank you for your consideration, Tony, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
