Reading Olympics
Go for the Gold! Read All About it!!!
Do you love to read? Do you want to be part of a team?
We are excited to begin the Hereford Elementary Reading Olympics program for the 2014-2015 school year. Teams of up to 12 students collectively read the books on the Reading Olympics book list and practice working together as a team to answer questions about those books.
Knowledge is Power
The Olympics are primarily a celebration of reading rather than a contest. All participants are awarded ribbons. Since the teams generate much excitement about this event, the experience is rewarding for everyone involved.
Requirements
A MINIMUM of 7 books must be read from the Reading Olympics list in order to participate in the Reading Olympics Competition in the spring. Students must be devoted to reading the books and attending the in school meetings leading up to the competition.
What does Pizza have to do with Reading Olympics?
Well....the night of the competition students will stay at Hereford Elementary and enjoy a delicious pizza for dinner in honor of all their hard work.
