Kevin Ware before the injury
Kevin Ware is a Sophomore at the University of Louisville. He is a Guard on the basketball team, being a key factor in the games before they got to the Regional Championship. Against Colorado in the 3rd round he had 4 points, 2 steals, 2 rebounds, and 5 assists, against Oregon he had 11 points, 1 steal, and 1 rebound, and lastly, in the 5 minutes he played against Duke before his injury he had 1 steal, 1 rebound, and a three pointer.
The Injury
The Louisville Cardinals were playing the Duke Blue Devils in the Midwest Regional Championship to go to the Final Four. A Duke player pulled up to shoot a three pointer when Ware jumped out to challenge him. While Ware was in the air he spun around to see if the Duke player made it when he came down on his right leg awkwardly. He sustained a compound fracture in his lower leg. They were calling it a Joe Theismann-Style of a snap.
