MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Greetings MVCSD Community,
Over the weekend, we had a wonderful health fair for the Mount Vernon community. Families came out and were greeted with many different community services that will be able to support their wellbeing. Thank you everyone who helped to make this day special. Health is so important, and the Mount Vernon City School District is doing whatever it can to help.
Rayanu Adam, Student Trustee on the Board of Education, received the remarkable Gates Scholarship. Rayanu is one of the best students I have met, and I’m excited to see the great things that he will achieve at Cornell University and beyond.
We are excited to bring the Microsoft Technology Education and Learning Support (TEALS) program to the district. Our scholars deserve to have a pathway to a computer science career right at Mount Vernon High School. This program will bring another AP class to our curriculum when it is fully implemented, and it will give our scholars another opportunity to choose from when thinking about their future careers.
Kindest Regards,
Dr. K. Veronica Smith
Acting Superintendent of Schools
