Back to School Night Success!!

Thanks to all for attending our Back to School Night last week! We were thrilled to hold this event in-person this year! The energy was amazing as teachers and families were able to make connections that will make a positive impact on a successful year. I am sure you all is such a wonderful feeling to be part of the Prairie community.

**The Prairie community has been making memories since 1866!! Be proud!

Lancer Day Parade: 9/16

The Lancer Day Parade begins at 1:15 on Sept. 16th. We will begin checking students out at 12:45. If you plan to take your child to the parade:

Check-out procedures for Sept. 16th

  • All students with prearranged absences will go to the gym at 12:45. Staff will be standing outside the front entrance and MPR (Y-Care) door with clipboards and radios to check multiple students out at a time.

  • If you do not fill out the form ahead of time, you will need to come to the front office and check-out your child through our normal check-out procedures. There will be a significant wait time, so please fill out the form in advance.

  • Parking will be an issue. Please be sure you are not blocking traffic.

  • Students will not be released to walk on their own.

Health & Wellness Reminder

We want to promote a healthy lifestyle and keep our students with food allergies and related conditions safe at school. We do not allow food for birthday celebrations. Please know, the day will still be special!

Monthly Theme: Self-Management

Each month, we will kick off our character building theme by holding an assembly on the first Friday from 8:10-8:30. All students will report to the gym at arrival to meet their teachers on these special days. We will also focus on the monthly theme in our daily class meetings.

  • This month we will talk about "Self-Management." We will explore how to regulate our emotions and communicate our feelings with others. Our assembly topic will provide an example of our "Universe of Control." We will discuss how we can control our own words, actions, behavior, effort and attitude. We can't control other people's actions, thoughts, feelings and mistakes.
  • Don't forget to send your child directly to the gym this Friday for the assembly to begin at 8:10. It is RED FRIDAY!! Let's celebrate our Chiefs!

Field Trips are Underway!

  • Be sure to sign and return permission slips ASAP.
  • Please make checks payable to "Prairie Elementary."
