Valence electrons: 8 Group: 18 Period: 3 Doesn't react with anything b/c it is a noble gas. discovered in 1894 by Sir William Ramsay, a Scottish chemist, and Lord Rayleigh, an English chemist. Argon is found in Earth's atmosphere as 0.93% of it, making it the third most abundant gas. It can be obtained from the air as a byproduct of the production of oxygen and nitrogen. It is colorless, odorless, non flammable, and non toxic. It is not in a stable state at room temperature.

Common uses:

-used in welding applications

-production of light bulbs

-production of lasers

-contained in tires on luxury cars

-used in space between panes on double-glazed windows
