Principal Message
Greetings, Ride Families!
A great big hug and thank you to our wonderful PTO. They provided ice-cream treats for the staff last week and it was a huge hit!
Our Ride Reading Adventure Fundraiser is under way!! We are very excited to bring this event back to Ride in its original fashion. The kids attended a Kick Off Pep Rally on Wednesday, and had a great time. Many of our kids did not know what a PeP Rally was. (We have not had one since 2019.)
It is amazing that with each new event or adventure we bring back, how much the kids really missed out on the last couple of years. That makes this year that much more special. We want to show them the best Storytime Parade and Ride's Reading Adventure Day ever!
Your support is greatly appreciated!!
Our motto is, " Find 10, Get 10". That means find 10 people (you know) and get $10 to support their school. The money goes toward technology, playground equipment, books, and classroom resources.
Thank you again for all you do for Sally K. Ride!!
Reminders:
- Don't forget the TEXANS Game on Oct. 2nd. The Texans gave us a section and very discounted tickets for the game!! Please see the QR codes on the flyer below.
- Our author visit scheduled for October 5th has been cancelled. We hope to reschedule it at another date.
- Please remember, when visiting school for volunteering, eating lunch, or parent conference to not to bring toddlers/babies to the school. - We would like to be proactive about preventing distractions during a purposeful visit.
- Birthday Treats -- please have parents provide a store bought cookie. Please be mindful that even though donuts maybe be a popular treat, that it is not the best treat for an elementary class. And many times, there are more than one celebration at a time.
Sincerely,
Megan Burnham

Ride's Reading Adventure
Way to go, SKR Students & Families!
Wow, what an astounding start to our Fall Fundraiser, Ride's Reading Adventure! A few years ago, we took a leap of faith and decided to STOP profit-sharing with outside companies to come and run our fundraiser. We have been so successful ever since and regret nothing! Now, instead of dividing our earnings, Ride keeps 100% of all profits our students earn!
This past week, hopefully your child came home and shared with you how they saw some of their favorite teachers put on the BEST kick-off pep rally ever! The energy was high and the kids were so into everything. It was our first large group gathering in over 2 years - that's something to celebrate right there! The teachers must have said the right things because we have already received over $9K in pledges so far! Unbelievable! Let's keep going!
This weekend, we need ALL Challengers to FIND 10, GET $10 - find at least 10 people that they can ask a minimum of a $10 donation. We expect to see great results next week and the kids are excited about the individual and class prizes provided by our one and only, PTO. Teachers also have class-wide incentives happening in their rooms as well!
Thank you all for supporting the cause, as the money raised goes directly back to our students here at Sally K. Ride. Please see below for all the information on our Fall Fundraiser. Click on the attachment below to see online instructions on how to do your fundraising online.
