UPK-12 Information
Opening: We had a great start last week welcoming students back! Overall, students did a great job following our health and safety protocols. The district has extra masks when needed, but please make sure your child has a mask when they come to school. We look forward to a productive and fun school year! Thank you!
Homecoming Week: We are looking forward to homecoming week from September 20th-25th! If you take a look at our athletic calendar, you will notice that all of our varsity teams have a home contest scheduled that week. The middle and high school will host our traditional theme days and our annual tailgate extravaganza and powderpuff game will be on Wednesday, September 22nd (see attached flyer for details). We are hoping the school community will come out to show their Braves spirit!

UPK-4 Information
iReady Diagnostic Testing: During the first two weeks of school, classroom teachers will begin assessing students utilizing the iReady Diagnostic. Students will spend approximately 45 minutes per subject, reading and mathematics, to complete these assessments. The results will be analyzed and then used to guide instruction and interventions for students.
New Lunch Schedule Beginning 9/13: After four days of outdoor dining, we decided to take down the tents and move operations indoors. Through the use of the elementary stage in the cafeteria, we were able to create a schedule which will have lunches being served as early as 11 am and as late as 1:35 pm. The students have been incredibly flexible with the changing arrangements. We are presently having students in the lunchroom seated 3’ apart while they are eating. The contact tracing and quarantining rules stipulate that if a child is within 6’ of a covid positive person, and unmasked for greater than fifteen minutes, they too must be quarantined. Because of this, we are encouraging students to diligently eat their lunch, in an attempt to dismiss students to the playground, before the fifteen minutes of time has passed. Most of the children finish eating just before this time. Our goal is to limit the number of students who would be required to quarantine in the event that a student receives a positive covid test. Please be assured that students who need additional time, will get whatever time they need to adequately finish eating their food.
5-8 Information

Middle and High School Open House for Grades 6-12
We encourage families to attend our annual open house on Thursday, September 16th. This year, we are offering informational sessions along with the traditional teacher meet and greet. In addition, pizza, water, and cookies will be provided and available in the cafeteria (until we run out). Please take a look at the schedule below. Please Note: Even though the parents and students attended the Grade 5 Meet and Greet on September 1st, parents are still welcome to attend the parent informational sessions from 5:30-6:30 pm.
SchoolTool Parent Portal
SchoolTool: In order to access your child’s progress reports and report cards, you will need to have a parent/ guardian portal account in the district’s school management system, SchoolTool. A parent/guardian portal access guide to SchoolTool is attached to this email to assist you in establishing your parent/guardian portal account. Once you have a parent/guardian portal account, you will have access to not only your child’s grades, but also to his/her attendance, daily schedule, behavioral reports, and state assessment scores. If you encounter any difficulties acquiring or accessing your parent/guardian portal account in SchoolTool, please feel free to contact Jim Ellis, the ACS Technology Coordinator, at jimellis@avoncsd.org.
