Dear Families,
With our hybrid learning model in place for the first time, we are all adapting to this new way of school. Our teachers are working harder than ever in order to make the learning experience as purposeful as possible during the in-person days, as well as the independent days. As this is a new format for our students, staff, and parents, we want to make sure that any challenges that arise are met with grace and understanding for all involved. We know that our community is very supportive of our school and we appreciate your partnership in making this situation the best it can be for our kids. Here are a few suggestions to help make our hybrid learning environment go as smoothly as possible:
- Communication to teachers via email: As you already know, our staff is working with in- person students on all off-cohort learning days and may need to respond to your request during a break in their schedule. If you email your child’s teacher, please know that our staff will get back to you within 24 hours on school business days. (If you email a teacher on a Friday, you can expect to hear back on Monday.) We appreciate your patience with this, as our teachers are working hard to be responsive to our in-person learners along with our independent learners.
- Vacations & Appointments: With the limited amount of time of in-person learning with our students, we are kindly requesting that family vacations get scheduled during a natural break on the calendar (i.e., fall break) if possible. We understand that some circumstances do not allow flexibility, however, if possible, please keep this in mind. In this same respect, please consider scheduling routine physician/dental appointments on an independent learning day or Friday. Doing these few things will help us maximize the time our teachers will have with your child at school.
- Attendance: Our teachers will be taking attendance 5 days a week. Independent learning days are counted as present through participation/work completion. Please see the attendance process in more detail in this letter.

HOW CAN I MAKE A DONATION TO HELP FVE THIS YEAR?
FVEA has an active fundraising campaign underway for our school and is accepting donations of any size!
For those who can, please consider a flat donation to our school. If every family donated just $50, we would be able to cover a large portion of our shortfall.

FREE MEALS FOR ALL STUDENTS!
I am happy to share that school lunches are now FREE of charge for all students.
In addition, beginning Monday, September 21st, breakfast will also be provided FREE of charge to any student. When soft start begins at 8:20, students who want breakfast should go straight to the cafeteria to pick up a meal and then head to their classroom. They will eat their breakfast in the classroom during soft start.
