The Burnley Series
A monthly event funding micro-grants for projects in Burnley
How it works
Interested in the idea but don't quite get it? Here’s how it works:
- People donate £5 at the door
- Three or four pre-approved projects that benefit the community (anything from cleaning up a park to starting a small business) present their idea to the group
- Over a drink and a bite to eat, diners cast their vote for the project they think should win the funds
- The winning project goes home with all of the money raised in the evening
- Winners come back to a future event to tell us about how the project went!
Next Event - Has been postponed, hopefully some time in May.
There's plenty of parking outside and we'll be upstairs so when you arrive just ask the bar staff for directions.

The Idea
Burnley is changing. Slowly. And that’s important. We can't afford to rush to change things. We need to be deliberate, and passionate, and kind. All over this town there are great people working on lots of projects and causes that deserve funding, but money isn't something that is easy to get at the moment. This is where The Burnley Series comes in.
We'll be trying out a brand new way to crowd fund some of Burnley's most worthy causes and projects. It's not going to be mega money but we think that together we can help fund the small projects that can have big impacts.
Any questions at the back then?
What sort of projects do you fund?
We'll look at pretty much any project that we think will benefit Burnley, a project could be benefiting the whole town or just one tiny little part of it. The most important thing is we think giving money to the project will really help make a difference to Burnley.
What is the schedule for the evening?
Roughly the plan is proposals at 8 / Break off for a drink and chat around 8.30 / Winner announced by 9
What rules do you have for The Burnley Series?
There are only two and they apply to the presenters. The first is you can not use technology to present and the second is that the idea presented must benefit the people of Burnley or Pendle. The rest of the event is completely public. Anything can happen!
Can I help out?
YES! We're always on the lookout for people to get involved, if it's helping to distribute some flyers, actually setting up the event, or even making soup, we'd never say no to a helping hand. Plus it's a great way to meet other people from Burnley. Simply drop us an email to have a chat.
