FCPS First Week Guide
What's new? What's happening? You can find it all here!
In this newsletter, we are providing updates for our first week.
Some familiar FCPS faces teamed together for this video celebrating the start of the school year. We realize the start of the school year can be an anxious time, but we will do great things together!
Dr. Dyson's message
Our FCPS team did excellent work preparing classrooms and school buildings. We will do great things together this year!
The FCPS mission is simple: Supporting every child, every day. I look forward to personally greeting students this week. If you see me, say hi!
Since I am new to Frederick County, I am understandably getting many questions, from what I enjoy doing in my spare time to what my role is in FCPS.
I thought it would be fun to answer some of those questions as we get to know each other. I hope you enjoy the video, and I wish everyone a great first week!
Back to School Reminders
Transportation update
During the first few weeks, some adjustments to bus routes may be made. Additionally, please be patient with bus arrivals in the afternoon. Dismissal is slower at the start of the school year due to students becoming familiar with bus assignments.
In the case of morning or afternoon bus delays, the Transportation Department will share them online. Be sure to check this page for the latest.
We are asking all motorists to be alert. Be on the lookout for school buses and students walking to school.
FCPS reopening plan
The FCPS Reopening Plan is posted online and includes more details about:
- FCPS goals for the 2022-23 school year
- FCPS response to COVID-19
- FCPS equity priority
- Identifying student readiness
- How FCPS will safely transport students
- How FCPS will communicate with the community
- How FCPS will partner with the FCPS community
COVID-19 protocols and procedures
Our COVID-19 dashboard will be updated daily with the latest information. Positive cases reported to FCPS will reported from each school.
We will continue to utilize several mitigation strategies in an effort to combat the spread of COVID-19.
