Introduction
Welcome, students. You are about to embark on a wonderful journey into the world of folktales, myths, and fables. During your journey, you will read and familiarize yourself with examples of each genre. At the of of this trek, you will be able to differentiate among the genres and create your own!
Enjoy this quest for knowledge about some of the different genres of literature!
Task 1:
Use the websites below to answer the following questions.
1. What is a fable? Give an example.
2. What is a myth? Give an example.
3. What is a folktale? Give an example.
Task 3:
Choose at least 3 examples of each genre to read (folktales, myth, and fable). Choose 1 from each category and complete the chart given to identify which ones you read and what the theme or moral is for each one.

Task 4:
Now that you have thoroughly researched and read folktales, fables, and myths, it is time to work on creating your own. To get started you will need to brainstorm with a partner. Your story may be about an animal, a place, or a person. It just needs to be original and creative.
1. Brainstorm and make a graphic organizer of your thoughts.
2. Write your story on paper, edit and revise.
3. Type story or make a project about your story to share with the class.
