Helping the Prince William DEN Community Stay Connected

Welcome to the first edition of the PWCS DEN News!

What are the first few words that come to mind when you think about Discovery Education? invaluable? resourceful? collaborative? Most likely, your thoughts about DE also describe the relationships you have with other DEN Stars. As a DEN Star, we benefit when we share with each other and spread the word about DE to our colleagues. Currently, PWCS has 52 DEN Stars. The purpose of this newsletter is to help DEN Stars share ideas with each other and to increase activity within our DEN community. We hope you enjoy reading about DEN events and that this newsletter helps all of us to stay connected.

Yours in the DEN,

DEN Spring VirtCon

Hosted by the Virginia DEN Leadership Council

The DEN hosts two VirtCons each year. These are free professional development events for educators to learn about the most effective ways to integrate digital media into their instructional practices. The fall VirtCon was online and the spring VirtCon was an in person event.

This past April, the Northern Virginia DEN hosted a face-to-face event at C.D. Hylton High School. It was a mix of virtual and in-person sessions. This blended environment gave attendees the opportunity to connect with their most valuable resource…each other!

SOS Share Our Strategies

The DEN is Stronger Together

Do you have a strategy you have used in the classroom that your students loved? Do you have a project that you created or an app that you can't live without? One goal of this newsletter is to encourage DEN Stars to reach out to one another and share ideas. The NOVA Leadership Council would encourages DEN Stars and educators interested in becoming DEN Stars to meet, get to know one another, and share ideas and inspirations. An event doesn't have to be formal. Meeting at a restaurant, the Apple Store, or even in a classroom after school is a great way to meet new people, make friends, and share the wealth of our DEN community. The Spring VirtCon is a great first place to meet up and plan additional events. Please share your ideas for an event; we all benefit when we work together.
