🎵Updates from the Music Room!🎵

MUSIC SHARING IS BACK: We will be FINALLY having a Music Sharing day coming up... It will be during your students regular music class during the last full week of school, June 6-10. Music Sharing is a time for students to share something musical (dance counts, too!) from outside of class! It can also be sort of a music show and tell, they can bring in something from home that has something to do with music. If your student would like to sing a song or dance, they need to supply the background music. It can be a CD or an adult can email me a youtube link they have previewed. I will not search up youtube links during class because I won't have time to preview. Please make sure all lyrics are school appropriate. It's a really fun day! The older students who can remember when we did this last have been begging for it all year!

Grade 4: I am so proud of these students! We are finishing up our beginner violin lessons and they have come such a long way!

Grade 3: We will be continuing with Recorder Karate until the end of the year. They're doing AMAZING! They can practice at home with their packets, or for more help, there is a link on the front of their packet with videos and song links. They're so motivated! I've told them if they can find 5 minutes to practice every other day (or 2-3x a week) they would see a difference. No need for hours a day. 🙂

Grade 2: We have spent two weeks learning Do Re Mi from The Sound of Music. I have showed them a 5 minute clip of the movie where Julie Andrews is singing and they are obsessed. We then learned a song called Whacky Do Re Mi they get to play on Boomwhackers (tube instruments) and we're having a ball. They have told me that some families have watched The Sound of Music and it's on Disney+! Thought I'd share in case you and your family is interested. They've enjoyed telling me that their grown-ups know the song they're working on.

Grade 1: We learned a lullaby from Puerto Rico called El Coqui. Your adorable students have practiced keeping a steady beat by rocking a pretend baby, or pretend stuffed animal. This week, we're learning a song from France called Allouette.

Kindergarten: We've been working very hard on some special songs you will see soon enough... 🙂

Any questions or comments to share with me, don't hesitate to send me an email! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful students with me!

Nurses Corner

Dear South Row Families,

Health Screenings

If your student did not pass the vision or hearing screening, I will rescreen them over the next few weeks. If they do not pass a second time, I will contact you and send a referral letter home recommending follow up with their pediatrician.

Covid Exposures Reminders:

We are seeing an increase in Covid Cases in our community. You can see the current statistics here on our dashboard.

If your student is fully vaccinated and is exposed to a Covid positive individual, and they do not have symptoms, they do not need to quarantine. Testing on day 5 from exposure is strongly encouraged regardless of symptoms. If your student is exposed and they are not vaccinated, they must quarantine at home for 5 days (exposure date is day 0). They may return to school on day 6, with a mask for days 6-10. Please let me know if your student has been exposed to a Covid positive individual.

At Home Test Kits:

If you would like to sign up for free Covid Tests to be sent home biweekly from the school, please click this link: Student and Staff Opt In/Register for At Home Antigen Testing Program

These kits get sent home in your student(s) backpack every other Friday for FREE!!!

If you signed up for At Home Testing and/or Pool Testing but would like to opt out, please email me at

Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns.

Basket Raffle and Friday the 13th Takeback

The basket raffle and Friday the 13th Takeback event brought in $4,786! This is by far the most successful basket raffle we have had. Congratulations to the winners, and many thanks to everyone who contributed to their class baskets, volunteered for a shift, and bought tickets for the raffle.

Engineering Day Supplies

The Engineering Day committee is looking for any crafting supplies (popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, feathers, buttons, ribbon, etc- really anything!), empty 2L soda bottles, legos or some other building type kits. Please email to arrange for her to pick up rather than sending items to school.

Playground Painting Volunteers Needed

Please visit to sign up to help on either 6/18 or our rain date of 6/26. Painting not your thing? We are also looking for one playground supervisor for each shift to cover anyone who needs to bring their kids with them. Thanks in advance!
