Life is better at the L.A.K.E.
Lakeside Middle School - Friday, September 10, 2021
Over the past couple of weeks, we have had so many reasons to celebrate Lakeside Middle School. The carline has been wrapping up by 4:30 everyday and almost every bus leaves by 4:35. We started Flextime full of help sessions, mobile gaming, band practice and outside time. Our PTO was able to give every teacher that requested a grant for their classroom what was requested. We hosted our first ever Interactive Virtual Curriculum Night.
Today, we honored Patriot's Day as Lakeside students paused for a moment of silence to honor the lives lost during this tragedy. In addition, a small group of students planted a red maple tree on our campus today to recognize the fortitude and resilience of our nation. Red Maples were selected for their capability to survive in the almost any kind of soil type and they are among the first trees to bloom in the spring. Similar small ceremonies were held at every Forsyth County School.
We still have one more week before Fall Break, where we hope that all of our families are able to relax and enjoy time together.
We are a community that must work together to keep Lakeside and Forsyth safe. Thank you for keeping students home when sick and staying in communication with us.

Transportation Reminders
Transportation will have delays as bus routes are finalized and adjusted based on the amount of students on buses. Please know that the morning bus may run late and students that arrive late will not be marked tardy. Additionally, we keep breakfast open until all bus riders have arrived. In the afternoon, some buses will run double routes so please be patient as the goal is to have students arrive home safely.
Here is a link so that you can follow when a bus is loading and departing in the afternoon. Bus Update
Band Instruments that are bigger than a clarinet will not fit on buses.
Please have a plan on how your student will get home each day prior to leaving for school. The school will not be able to contact each student regarding transportation changes. Teacher and Support Staff of the Month
It’s time to start voting for “Teacher of the Month.” In addition, we will also be recognizing a “Support Staff of the Month.” This includes secretaries, custodians, cafeteria workers, and paraprofessionals. The winners of each monthly award will be eligible for next year’s “Teacher of the Year” and “Support Staff of the Year” award.
When making your choice, be sure to think about a teacher and a support staff member that exemplifies Lakeside P.R.I.D.E. Nominate people who show positivity in their work, respect for students and peers, integrity, diligence in their work, and make the effort to be kind to all.

Meals By Grace
This year our South vertical team of schools is, once again, partnering with Meals by Grace to support the needs of our community. Our 5 schools (SFHS, SFMS, Lakeside, Daves Creek and Haw Creek) are collecting donations for Meals by Grace during different months of the school year. September is Lakeside’s month to raise money. We would appreciate any and all donations to help support Meals by Grace, who feeds hundreds of Forsyth County families each month. To make it convenient for you, donations can be made through https://www.mypaymentsplus.com or you can give by cash or check in our front office. We are collecting money through the entire month of September.
Thank you for supporting our community!
