Creston Community News
Week of November 22, 2020
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Please remember that Friday, November 20th was our last IN-PERSON day as we transition to VIRTUAL learning until January 19th. Monday, November 23rd and Tuesday, November 24th will be eLearning days or asynchronous days, meaning students will have more flexibility in completing their school work. Teachers will be available between 9am - 12pm for support and communication. Encourage your student to check their Warren email for communication from teachers; they can also check Canvas course pages.
Monday, November 30th will begin our VIRTUAL learning or synchronous learning, meaning students will follow their given schedule. (See below for more scheduling details by grade level). To support our students and families, we have created a Transition to VIRTUAL resources webpage, https://www.warren.k12.in.us/o/msd-of-warren-township/page/resources-for-transition-to-virtual. This page will be a centralized resource for information needed for a successful transition. If you do not find what you are looking for, please contact your child's grade level counselor or administrator. School buildings will remain open and staffed during the VIRTUAL window.
Technology Helpdesk
If you need support with your device because it is not working or has been damaged, you can visit the helpdesk at Moorhead Community Resource Center at 8400 E. 10th Street, in back of building, from 10:00 - 2:00 Monday through Friday or submit a request here.
**You can also exchange a broken Chromebook at Creston (enter Door 1) on school days from 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM if your device is broken or not working properly. Our staff can provide you with a working device. Please wear a mask if you visit CIMS, and enter Door 1.
Internet Access
To request a T-Mobile hotspot for your student please completely fill out this form. Once your request is processed (usually within 2 business days) the hotspot will be delivered to your student's home school where you may pick it up.
Parent Technology Resources
Check out our Parent & Caregiver Resource page for resources and tutorials on Canvas, ParentVUE, and more must-haves to support your child's learning, all in one place!
School Schedule
Schedules were shared over the last week with all students. Students will login to their Canvas accounts to get specific information from their classroom teachers.
5th grade: Students will continue to follow a daily schedule - classes will meet via Zoom every weekday. Students brought home a copy of their daily schedule this week, and it's also accessible via email and on Canvas.
6th grade: Students will continue to follow a Black/Gold schedule. They will connect to teachers via Zoom on instructional (black/gold) days, and they will continue to have application days on their non-black/gold days. Students brought home a copy of their daily schedule this week, and it's also accessible via email and on Canvas.
7th & 8th grade: Students will continue to follow a Black/Gold schedule. They will connect to teachers via Zoom on instructional (black/gold) days, and they will continue to have application days on their non-black/gold days. All 7th and 8th graders received an email from Ms. Crowe or Mr. Day outlining their daily schedule.
ALL STUDENTS (grades 5-8) can access Zoom links to connect with their teachers on each class Canvas page!
Supplies/Books
Supplies and books were sent home over the last several school days. If you are missing supplies or your child did not bring them home, please contact your child's grade-level counselor to arrange a time for pick-up.
Attendance
Student attendance for all grades will continue to be tracked by their teacher based on participation in Zoom class sessions. Students in grades 6, 7, and 8 should continue to take their own attendance via the attendance app in Canvas on application days.
Food
Due to transition to VIRTUAL, we are partnering with our food service vendor, Chartwells to provide meals to all students. Food distribution days will be Tuesdays and Fridays from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at Warren Central High School, Creston, Raymond Park, and Stonybrook Intermediate Middle Schools, and Moorhead Community Resource Center. Tuesday distributions will consist of 4 breakfast meals, 4 lunch meals, and 3 supper meals. Friday distributions will consist of 3 breakfast meals, 3 lunch meals, and 2 supper meals. Menus can be found on our website under Food Service and linked here: https://warren.nutrislice.com/menus-eula.
Community Outreach Hotline
Our Moorhead Community Resource Center will remain open during the VIRTUAL window. If you have needs beyond what is being offered, you can either reach out to your child’s school or contact us through the outreach number, 317-608-0545 or email at MSDWarrenOutreach@warren.k12.in.us.
YMCA
Warren is partnering with the Ransburg YMCA to provide our families with YMCA ELEARNING CARE at Brookview Elementary. Students, ages 5-14, are eligible to participate in this program from 6:30 AM - 6:00 PM during the VIRTUAL window. For more information including the cost, please visit INDYMCA.org/YouthDevelopment.
We will miss seeing our students in person each day, but we are excited to go on this VIRTUAL school journey with all of you! We look forward to connecting via Zoom in the coming days. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions, concerns, or needs.
