Happy Holidays from Cottonwood's Staff
Greetings Cottonwood Families
Cougar Families,
I hope you all had an extraordinary Thanksgiving Break. I can’t believe that we only have two more weeks of school and will be halfway through the year! As we approach winter/semester break, remind your scholars of the importance of finishing strong and continuing to do their best work.
We begin our MAPs testing next week which will help us place our scholars in small group instruction within the classroom, please make sure your scholars are getting a good night's sleep and know the importance of doing their best so we have an accurate measure of where they stand.
On another note, our district's main goal is to create a safe learning environment for our staff and scholars. To that end, we are installing the Evolv system next week here at Cottonwood and at all of our secondary schools. It is a detection system to assure that our campus remains one of the safest places for everyone.
We have some great activities coming up so please read the coming events section below for dates and times. This weekend we have our Christmas-themed Saturday School.
This coming Wednesday, December 7th, we will be hosting Coffee with the Principal with parents and community members. Please come by and say hi.
Each day I feel honored to be here as the Cottonwood School principal, if you need anything, please reach out to me.
Take Care,
Albert

For the month of December Cottonwood will focus on the Character Trait of Dependability. The word Dependability means fulfilling what I consented to do, even if it means unexpected sacrifice.
The characteristics of Dependability are:
- I will keep my word.
- I will be careful what I promise.
- I will correct my mistakes.
- I will pull my share of the load.
- I will not have a bad attitude.
In order to help us reinforce Dependability, feel free to send in pictures of your child demonstrating Forgiveness to (aniaves@hemetusd.org) so that we can celebrate their efforts.
